For a business that's built on customer service...this place has none. On first entering the premises there was no greeting by a large middle aged man with short dark hair yawning in my face at the counter. When ordering my 4 meals there was no smile and just seemed very uninterested. I requested all four meals to have chicken salt. He cooked the meals one at a time and I saw he put regular salt on 3 of the meals and chicken salt on one. I didn't think it was that hard to remember such a simple request. Grabbed a couple of fish and chip meals here and felt like they were doing me a favour. I also asked for chicken salt on the chips and got a funny look back. I also asked for a small piece of salmon, the one selected was very large, once it was cooked it fell apart into 2 pieces. So in essence they had given me a double piece of salmon. There was no offer to make the piece smaller. No apology when it was a double piece, but they certainly charged for the double sized piece.I have decided to look elsewhere for fish and chips in the future.
After trying a few places, we know that this is a very good fish and chip shop. We like to choose fresh fish from the window and have it cooked to order. I love battered oysters, and they do these by the half dozen. I especially like that the shop and cooking area is very clean. The food has never been greasy or tasting yuk from dirty oil. We've been getting our fish and chips from Olympia for about 12 years. By Pom and Kiwi standards, we definitely recommend it!
We took takeaway here and were very impressed with the quality of fish offered. The fish of the day was New Zealand Cod when battered and we also ordered grilled barramundi. The chips were done really well and we got complimentary lemon wedges and a large helping of tartare sauce. The meal was ready on time for pick-up. We will be back agin soon and highly recommend it to others.

Don't know what the last reviewer was on, but this place is great. The service for us has always been friendly, and quick, especially the boss, who has done Fish and Chips in St Ives for 40 years.Fish is always fresh and sweet, no cheap stuff here. Prawn cutlets and Potato Scallops are excellent as well. Highly recommend.
Strolled in on a Tuesday night to grab some dinner before a training course.Friendly service from the old bloke in charge. Chiko roll was on point - fresh and crispy.Battered fish was awesome, had that real 80s fish & chips shop taste, and the chips were a hit at the course.
We have been having Olympia's fish and chips for 4 years and just love it! Fresh fish straight from the markets! Though the shop relocated a few months ago, Charlie and co have been there for around 30 years! You can't beat this!
Since the last visit, I was a lot happier this time. Food quality was good although still expensive. Service was a lot better this time as well. I would go back again based on this visit.

Take away, or fresh, Charlie and George know their fish and their customers' needs. There are tables to eat at if you fancy taking a bottle of wine. Plenty of salad choices as well.
We ordered three portions of barramundi to takeaway and they were all good. They each came with salad which was nice and fresh.
