They were slammed as soon as the doors opened at 8am this morning! We waited almost an hour for our breakfast but it was delicious. Ham and cheese croissant and the special spinach and ricotta hot cakes with candied bacon, banana smoothie (with chocolate and peanut butter - pretty heavy but nice) and some pretty average coffee. Not a bad place to watch the city wake up.
Couldn't go to my usual this morning so tried Opal on the way to work. I don't know what they have done but the berry and chocolate muffin has gone in the bin almost straight away, something was up with those berries. Every 2nd bite had a really foul taste it. That's a fist, having to throw out a muffin. Still drinking the coffee now, which is ok.
I organised the first part of my friends surprise hen at the Opal Cafe on Saturday as it is a BYO restaturant. I can't commend the staff highly enough, they were so helpful and friendly. Nothing was ever a bother! The food (Brunch) was absolutely delicious too. Thanks so much. We'll definitely be back!

Poached eggs were not cooked to order and looked like hard boiled eggs. I ordered a side of bacon which didn't come then when I reminded them they went away and came back again to ask if I still wanted it. It's not hard.
Every dish I have eaten here has been delicious. I particularly love the spinach and ricotta pancakes. Opal also freshly squeeze their juices which seems to be a rarity in cafe's these days.
Changed hands but still makes an impression. It is a nice place with a reasonable ambience. Service is good and food quality. It is a cafe don't expect gold class restaurant...prices reasonable.
