I visited this coffee shop in the afternoon today to meet up with a friend, as I have been a regular customer since it first opened. We have always had a good experience and the staff have always been polite and friendly. However, on this particular occasion, we felt uncomfortable. Our table was cleared shortly after we finished our drinks and food (in less than 30 minutes). We didn't even have time to enjoy the biscuit that came with the coffee or use the pot of jam we had paid for. Called here just for a quick drink and cake with family. Our order came out straight away. We had a piece of the lime and courgette cake and luckily it had tipped onto its side and I noticed it was mouldy on the bottom. We told the lady who had served us and she apologised so we ordered different cakes which were quite nice and we were told all the cakes would be on the house. Then my partner noticed his cup was dirty, stained inside and lipstick round the rim which wasn't good especially as things should be cleaned properly with everything that's going on. The tea was excellent and the cake! Bought a small chair out of the window for a little dog and nothing was too much trouble for the lady in the shop part of the cafe...Lovely unusual Christmas decorations..bought like a Lava lamp that will last forever lights up in green in shape of a Christmas tree.. Only problem the cafe was small and I have been when it is busy on another day and had to queue... This visit to buy the chair was on a a Sunday...so just managed a table... We finished our coffee in just 30 minutes and our cups were promptly cleared from the table. We were then asked if we would like another coffee, but declined. However, we felt very uncomfortable with the way we were treated. The staff could benefit from training on how to be more pleasant to customers. With so many other coffee shops in town, we may choose to go elsewhere in the future.

Best cafe I ever used, great service lovely coffee and cakes, good selection of teas, lovely seating and decor, friendly lady took our order then a brilliant waitress (really lovely 1st class) brought our drinks to the table, nice adjoining shop with homewares and hand made chocs, we absolutely love this place.
Popped in for a coffee, nice ambience, comfortable. However on going to the toilet the waitress asked very rudely “ have you just come in off the street?” To which I pointed to where I was sitting. No apology received. On this basis, the customer service of this individual was severely lacking.
Went in yesterday for a coffee and a scone and was very pleasantly surprised. We were served swiftly with our coffees and scones which were very nice and reasonably priced. After our coffee we had a look round the cards and gift shop area of the coffee shop which we didn’t expect .
The best coffee shop in Darlington! I have been to this shop several times and always find the staff to be very friendly. The tea and coffee are top-notch, and the cakes are always fresh and delicious. Definitely worth a visit!

I enjoyed my visit to Origins today. Lovely coffee and delicious cake. Very friendly staff, who don’t pressurise you to leave when you finish. Very popular cafe in Darlington. Never disappoints.
Won't go back as manager (I assume) not welcoming and quite rude. Telling me they were closing in 50 mins and asking how much longer my friend would be. We left without ordering
