Norfolk is my regular Chinese takeout spot and usually the food is good. However, tonight's meal was incredibly disappointing. The wonton soup tasted like it was only seasoned with soy sauce, the chicken chow mein was bland with boiled chicken and noodles and no chow mein sauce. The shrimp special had prawn cutlets instead of prawns, and the rice was dry without any sauce. Another customer had to show proof of his phone order because it was not received. Tried our local chinese again last friday. So disappointing again. Have had 2 good meals and 3 or 4 shockers. Our meal of sweet and sour chicken which when you envisage sweet sour sauce is thick and sticky with a great sweet sour taste. What we got was a watery pink coloured mess with masses of onions and np flavour at all. They must have had a sale on onions as the other dish of pepper steak was mainly all onions but the sauce was at least tasty. Come on guys lift your game and give us some gpod food to make us want to come back
We ordered the SPECIAL Fried Rice and were disappointed to receive a subpar dish with only 3 small pieces of chicken. The quality did not match the picture on the menu. The Lemon Chicken we ordered turned out to be chicken nuggets coated in breadcrumbs with a side of lemon sauce, which was unappetizing. The Chicken Omelette was flavorful, but finding eggshells in it was a major turn-off. Overall, this experience has turned us off from returning to this restaurant.
We use to patron this restaurant but certain family members use to get sick the day after. We then started visiting the other chinese in South Ormeau until they closed down. Now revisiting this one and putting 1 1 together we asked them to not use MSG. Surprise no-one got sick, the second day we organised a top up meal and there was a black and white striped bug.....the rest is drama, did not believe it was their bug, seriously not worth it.

This neighborhood restaurant has inconsistent quality. My experience tonight was very disappointing. The steamed dim sims were rubbery and the sweet and sour sauce tasted watered down and unappetizing. The dish should have been sweet, sticky, and thick. The chicken was in large chunks and there were big slices of onion. I won't be in a hurry to come back as the chef needs to improve the quality of the meals for locals to want to return.
My family and I have been going to this restaurant for years and loved it 90% of the time. it makes me sad that the meals we had tonight were way below average. We had some wrong dishes and the food was completely different to what we have tasted before. Not sure if they have changed owners or cooks but it will be along time before we can eat there again. We hope it was a one off but sadly we wont be back to find out. :
Very dissapointed with food last night. The sauce for entree was gelatinous and couldnt be thinned out by heating. The food was cold even though we waited for order and it wasnt up to standard. Have purchased food twice from here and maybe the chef was having a bad night but it wasnt a nice experience. The beef with peking sauce was overcooked and the ribs not memorable. Wont be rushing back
Found a black Asian hair in my pork with peiking sauce and because I’m blonde and my son has ginger hair it’s definitely not mine. Definitely won’t be returning- I must say when I went to pick up take away the restaurant looked quite dirty.

Have been going here for over 15 years and the prices have barely changed. Food is always of the highest quality. Definitely good chinese takeaway. Shandy special is one of our favourites and you cant go wrong with Mongolian beef!
Had dinner there last night food was good plenty of it and young lady very pleasant Will go back for sure
