Palais Phimket - Table reservation

This is our local oriental"restaurant. I use that term as the owner is Laotian and the menu offers foods from Thailand, China, Laos etc. There is a busy take out service. The dining room is very large and seldom busy in the evenings although at lunch time it is very popular with a self service salad bar to start with. Service is very polite, enthusiastic and rapid. Food comes very hot from the kitchen and is always tasty and plentiful. The wine list is not extensive but reasonably priced (Saki flows like water with the dessert! . My wife and I eat here about once every couple of months and are on first name terms with the owner and young waiter. Some times we are the only diners which means...

Not the best Asian food in the world, but good. We started with crab beignets (ok) then had sweet/sour shrimp, nice as not breaded and not too sweet. the calmari with black mushrooms was really good and we also had natural noodles and veggies on the side, both good. Not any complaints at all, just not outstanding. But for Chantonney, probably one of the best restaurants in town. Waiter is awesome and very very nice. No one speaks English, but hey, we are in France!
