I’m in town visiting from Arizona and had been dying to try bbq in Tennessee and this local place did not disappoint one bit. All the ladies were very sweet and helpful. I ordered the pulled chicken plate with baked beans and Mac and cheese. The chicken was so juicy and the smoke flavor was amazing. The baked beans were very good as well. I didn’t care for the Mac and cheese but I’ve always been picky on Mac and cheese . Also ordered the brisket sandwich with onion rings. Pig on the Hill. Have driven by or under this joint many times and finally was able to stop. Glad I did, pit smoked goodness. Papa Kayjoes has the necessary earmarks to attract my attention pile of Hickory smoke house/pit outback odd assortment of vehicles in the parking lot and an air of barbecueness The pork was sweet, smoky, tender didn 't need sauce (though I tried the Mild , the Hot, and the Sweet all good). I ate the Southern Way Special a bargain at $5.99 corn cakes (hoe cakes) with a mound of barbecue and white beans (or Baked beans). The corn cakes were excellent, the Barbecue sublime and the white beans (with a slice of onion) topped it off nicely. Papa Kayjoes a keeper.
GREAT EXPERIENCE! I visited the restruant on Saturday. The food was absolutely delicious and no rush to eat. The atmosphere was inviting and the workers were very friendly. My only complaint was the music was a little dated. I ordered the hand patted burger and fried pickles. It was just the right amount of food, I expect to return soon.
We visit regularly for the most magical sandwich ever created…brisket grilled cheese! Ordered with an appetizer of fried pickles and a side of Mac cheese it is the ultimate comfort meal. Food is always delicious and fried perfectly. The staff is warm and friendly. Truly a local gem.

papa kay joe was delicious. I have the black plate and I have okra and mais on the side. also the southern grilled cheese was good with the curly fryed. the free earth was great. I wasn't a fan of fried pickles, so I wouldn't get them back. the personal was also very nice.
Papa KayJoe's serves the best BBQ on this side of the Mississippi, in my opinion. I have traveled extensively throughout the country and always make a point to try different BBQ restaurants, but Papa KayJoe's has been the standout for me.
the grilled cheese with brisket was excellent and the pulled pork was very good. everything else I saw looked delicious. the atmosphere was perfect, free salted fruits on the table. the service was top notch! five stars.
Great bbq and great prices. Most anything is good but I particularly like the corn nuggets. I usually get a to go order but the restaurant does have a comfortable atmosphere if you have time to sit down.

every time I come with the family in centerville, we always have to go in papa cages that they serve the best grill in western tennessee!
