We were in Tennessee on a short vacation. We chose Papa Turney's as it was on our way back to Indiana! First time for Tennessee BBQ! It was outstanding! We got the Family Pack which consisted of a full slab of ribs, pulled pork,2 large sides and 3 slices of pie! The ribs were fall off the bone and melt in your mouth! The pulled pork was smokey deliciousness! We chose Mac n cheese and Turnip greens! Hands down the best I have had from any BBQ place! And the Chess pie was delicious as well! Will definitely stop here again when in Tennessee!!!
I’ve been coming here for years every Wednesday and Saturday for the best BBQ and Live Blues! Mr Mike (Papa Turney) and Ms Zeke have become family. They get so excited to see new faces! If you’re lucky enough to score a piece of strawberry cake, get 2! Trust me! ? Kid-friendliness: Bring the kiddos, canines and cats! Large patio with seating and audio/video so everyone can enjoy the entertainment! Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp with provided parking spaces.
I had the most delicious tasting Turnip Greens in my life! They were better than my own Mothers Turnip Greens! My husband even had an unexpected visit from the owner who looked great at his age! I will say that they didn’t have their chess pie which saddened me. The atmosphere and the employees sweet and helpful attitude made up for not having any chess pie. I will definitely be going back!! We had a wonderful time!
This may be the best BBQ place I have had the pleasure of visiting, it’s a nice drive to get to and it’s right next to the marina. The service was great and very friendly, and the food was amazing- even after having great BBQ in Nashville already, this was my favorite. My favorite item was the Brisket and Pulled Pork, and all the sides were also great!

Omg! Delicious BBQ!! Great atmosphere, and they greet you at the door. We tried the brisket and the ribs with coleslaw, potato salad and Mac n cheese. The meat portions were generous and the sides tasted fresh and homemade. Were definitely going back!
The food here is really good! They smoke the BBQ daily so it's always fresh. If you like good blues, their Wednesdays are an open mic blues jam to entertain you while you eat.
The food was excellent and plentiful, with a delightful smoky flavor. The location by the water is an added perk. The owners were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful.
First time here, we really loved the foods. Worth a mile walk.
