We have dined at Pate's on numerous occasions and have always recommended it to others. However, our most recent visit was quite disappointing. The food was overly salty and the service was incredibly neglectful. We waited over 30 minutes for Sue to take our order and were left waiting at every turn afterwards. While other tables seated after us received prompt service, Sue appeared preoccupied with chatting with familiar guests and picking up drinks at the bar. This made our dining experience uncomfortably long as we struggled to get her attention. Hopefully, this was just an off night at Pate's.
I did not know the 8oz strip sirloin was going to be a 3X3 cube, What kind of presentation is that? Offer a 12oz or something. Had reservations and arrived on time, Waiter was always rushing us. Last weekend of the year for them I guess was motivating. Not sure if McDonalds could beat how fast the food comes out, but at least their food was hot, not here. Feels like a factory.. Not for us.
After driving past Pate's countless times, we made our initial visit: what a revelation! Large, dynamic space, with innovative seafood and stellar service. Even staples like calamari and fish and chips were prepared with distinct flair. Great service, too. Highly, highly recommended.
Pate's is one of my favorites. Dinner was excellent last night. Three of us had the lamb ravioli special which I would love to see as a regular entree. My husband had the seafood pan roast which is always delicious. The fig martini is my new favorite.

The sirloin in the surf and turf dish was tough and chewy. The lobster ravioli was also on the small side. However, my wife and sister thoroughly enjoyed their fish and chips and pizza.
Visit Pates a handful of times each year. Food is consistently great. Love the tuna cones as an appetizer. Service was excellent. Wish they didn't close in the winter.
Amazing as always! Foti (sp? was our server. He was fabulous and also very funny. The filet was too die for and my chocolate martini dessert was soooo yummy!
