Lovely riverside spot with a great view both up and the Garonne river. What used to be a car park is now a little park incorporating a versatile cafe/pub/restaurant operating from a small hole in the wall (the staff must feel like hobbits) as well as a children's playground. Quite inclusive as there was a wide age range represented with the children being reasonably unobtrusive (at least when we were here). Having had a recent lunch, we kept to a pint (5 euro for 80% of a pint) and a tea (2 euro) but we did look at other customers' plates and the food seemed basic but very acceptable. Great location and viewpoint over the river onto the Hotel Dieu on the opposite bank. Highly recommended!
I was told about this spot by the waiter at a restaurant we'd been to. It was a good recommendation! Down on the river it's a little bar that serves, beer, wine and what looks like a huge menu of food! We had a glass of wine, glass of beers and an assortment of cheese and it was 10 Euros. Absolute bargain. The cheese was great, five pieces, good portions and came with some bread. Really good. If the sub is shining you can take your own picnic there as well and lay on the grass. It's near a children's play area so can be a little noisy but it was fine. There is a toilet there as well.
We had a delightful tapas-style meal here with a selection of cheeses, terrines, foie gras, tzatziki, creme fraiche, and more. If you run out of bread, just present your basket and it will be replenished. Service can be slow, but this is because the kitchen is very small, and each order is completed before the next is accepted. Friendly staff too! There is a washroom, btw, just ask for the key.
This is a great place for a midday snack as long as the sun is shining. Open seating next to the river. Friendly service, reasonable selection and tasty food at good prices. The red wine was surprisingly drinkable and only 2€ a glass.
