As a longtime fan of Peet's, I recently visited the location in San Mateo and was disappointed with my experience. I had to wait between five and ten minutes while they cleared orders ahead of me and managed their online requests. When it was finally my turn, I ordered a coffee and asked the clerk if she could offer me a complimentary shot of espresso for my wait. She responded, not once but twice, that she couldn’t do that. I told her that if she couldn't assist me as a customer, I would leave, and she simply looked me in the eye and repeated, "I can't do that." So, I decided to walk out. We?ve been Peet?s customers for years but this is really it. Every weekend we order coffee with pastry. The app says the wait time is 20 min. Okay. But it consistently takes them 40 min and more to just heat up the pastry. They move very slow, chat nonstop and pay no attention to their customers. At the end, it?s been so many times when we got cold coffee, no pastry, and crying baby because he was completely bored by waiting. This is the worst service ever! We did like Peet?s coffee but the Starbucks across the street is our go-to now because they are excellent in their speed and customer service. So so sad about Peet?s.
This Peet's location is fantastic. It allows for social distancing and is tidy and well-organized. I really appreciate the staff for their excellent customer service. The coffee is wonderful—perfectly balanced, not too hot or cold. The pastries are fresh and delightful, and their service is exceptional.

Great place order everyday. Only thing sometimes is different coffee i like my coffee on Sundays mornings Don?t know who works but i love it more than other days
I ordered online. Parking was easy to find. My drink was stolen. But staff was quick to provide me a drink quickly. It was delicious.
I've discovered my new favorite beverage: the espresso chai latte with an extra shot and almond milk.
