I was so disappointed with this place today. We came for lunch about half 2. It was quite busy but we got a table straight away. Took a while for someone to come and clear it but the staff had already given us menus so we perused what was on offer. We had about 45 mins before we had to get the car so we only ordered sandwiches. A family of 4 had come in on the next table after us but their food (4 cooked meals including an all day breakfast bap) not only came first but they had finished their meals and there was still no sign of our 2 sandwiches. We decided we had to go or risk getting a ticket. When we explained why we were leaving and would only be paying for our drinks we were told Oh but...
Visited Penleys Café mid-afternoon, avoiding the lunchtime rush. Very relaxed atmosphere, felt homely with friendly, helpful staff. Great selection of food, but being lunchtime I went for a club sandwich and chips. Wow, what a meal that turned out to be. Finished off with a gorgeous home-made carrot cake. Absolutely delicious fare at a very reasonable price. I live some 50miles away but anytime I 'm in this area this lovely cafe will be my top choice for refreshment. Well done Penleys, and thank you.
Visiting Richmond went into Penleys. Staff friendly and welcoming, was very clean, qseated straight away. (there is seating upstairs. Had the quiche and salad, the quiche was amazing, absolutely gorgeous, had a lovely crispy top WOW.!! Looking around at other tables and all the food looked beaut to. Well worth the visit. Ordered a breakfast and had to pay extra for a piece if toast. Never heard the likes. Nothing special. Also ordered a meal which came with chips. The chips were massive chunks of potato which must of been cooked for a minute as they still looked tasted and felt raw. Will not be coming back
