Percy French - Table reservation

Always had fantastic Sunday lunches here but menu is now A la carte 7 days a week. I checked the menu before going to see if it would suit my parents and was happy with the variety and prices. However, on arrival, we were handed a completely different menu which was really unappealing and very pricey! I pointed this out and the waitress apologized and said that menu should have been taken down. I settled for spicy lentil soup with onion bhajee and bread/butter. The soup was tasteless, in a small bowl and had the Bhajee dumped in the soup which was a surprise! I suppose it saved them a ladel of soup and a few pennies?! My family booked this restaurant more than a month in advance for my mother 's 80th birthday. Clearly a very special occasion with family arriving from around the globe to celebrate the event! Only to be told upon our arrival that the table was not yet ready and having to wait for more than an hour before being seated! This was just the beginning to a diabolical evening of horrendous non existent service! The waitress allocated for a table of 18 people had no clue whatsoever and could not cope! The service at this restaurant was absolutely terrible. The staff appeared completely disinterested and lacked any communication or eye contact. A simple smile or greeting seemed to be beyond their capabilities. It was a disappointment, especially considering they were the front of house staff. We were entertaining friends from England, and this experience was a complete tourism disaster. We only stayed for one drink before swiftly moving on to a more inviting and friendly venue in town.

The whole place needs a bit of an upgrade. Tired furniture and such a stunning location. The menu had only heavy large meals not really suited for a lunch time meal, unless customers took the starter options. Should offer sandwiches/lighter options.

Surrounding need updated, food just average, staff had really no interest in the customer service. A really bad experience
