I am a Viennese living in Switzerland for the past 15 years but whenever I come back home I try to have lunch or dinner with my family at the Pfarrwirt. Both sitting areas, inside and outside of the location, are wonderful, tastefully and traditionally designed and the menu card is full of traditional Viennese specialties with a nice modern twist. I could not give any advisory comment on the menu and wine list but I wish the service crew would get more organized and synchronized. You might like or dislike the patron, Mr. Rainer but he seems to lack having oversight of the location and does not align the team to optimize the service quality. Other than this, we love the place and will come ba...

We had planned to do a “Beethoven Hike” down the flanks of Kahlenberg and wanted to start at the Beethoven Museum at Probusgasse. We found that closed 13:00-14:00 and took lunch at the nearby Pfarrwirt. A piece of history itself it is popular with upper middleclass locals – which goes for the neighborhood. We took the very reasonable lunch special enjoyed the mix of history and contemporary Viennese cuisine. The wines from nearby Mayer (another Beethoven summer hideaway) are among the best in Vienna – go white for a typical sip! After this pleasant lunch we visited the Beethoven Museum and took the bus up to Kahlenberg. In this combination it made a perfect afternoon.

This restaurant is in a beautiful part of Vienna, well worth the extra effort to travel outside of the center of the City and easily accessible by public transit. The food is a delectable representation of Austrian cuisine, pairing well with local wines. Having spent a significant amount of time in Vienna over the years, the meal we had was far superior to anything we had experienced in the City Center. To make the most of your time traveling to this restaurant, check out the nearby Beethoven museum and several Heuriger taverns, all within a short walk.

The food as well as the location is amazing. The service is apparently a disaster. We waited 10 minutes after we have arrived to get the menu. At the end i asked for it. We were not asked a single time during our 3 hours dinner if we would like to have another drink etc. At the end you have to beg in order to get a drink or desert menu. Great location, outstanding food, very poor service/staff.
