I have attended the Phoenix many times over a number of years, and it isn’t nice to see a place you once enjoyed not maintaining a standard they once had. Each time I go I feel the food declines in taste and the customer service declines further along with it, but I always try and balance things out and give them a chance. Tonight I convinced a friend to go here for a change from the usual place we go, and I was embarrassed I had recommended it. Food was just about eatable, mainly due to the chicken dishes in both the starter and main course having a chewy unpleasant taste to it. Phoned to order food for collection.Asked how much food would be when calling for it. Was asked to hold on which ended up being 7mins on hold and noone came back.Then had to spend time trying to call back to see if order was placed and how much again. On collecting order my other half was collecting,was told no spring rolls left.My partner asked to order sesame toast and was told that would take to long,and the other food we ordered would be cold. I did call to try and complain,got no apology and was hung up on. Communication and customer service disgraceful. If only I had been told at time of ordering no spring rolls and also the fact I gave a second chance of being hung up on placing order...
The Phoenix is great if all you want is some decent food and a night out without breaking the bank. Service is OK, maybe not the fastest in the world, but the staff are friendly. We went with my son and his girlfriend and had a very good meal. He had satay chicken skewers (good), his girlfriend had spring rolls (OK), my wife had chicken noodle soup (tasty, though would have liked it thinner) and I had smoked chicken in spring onion and ginger (very good). Called in tonight with the family for the first time not knowing what to expect have to say had a great meal the food and service where great..Food was served fresh and hot and young guy serving us was very friendly and polite ..we ordered salted chilli chicken to share for starter then honey chilli chicken with cashew nuts and sweet and sour chicken hong kong style and a kids meal all where beautiful....decor a bit tired and dated but heyho not there to look at decor more interested in food and service...its also BYO for only £2.50 per couple or also its licensed and has winelist etc ...will defo be returning

my family ordered delivery like we've done for a long time, they forgot a chip with one of the meals and when questioned about it over the phone they denied we ordered it when we clearly did and kept claiming we were wrong while being continually cheeky over the phone. in the end nothing was done about it we just had to hang up angrily. will never go back
Food was delicious. A bit outdated as far as the decor was concerned and a tad run down. We where seated at the window and it was very cold as there was no double glazing. The waitress was very friendly and chatty recommended where we could Go for a cosy drink. Outstanding value for money.
I like to order appetizers when I come to this restaurant. They are generous portions and go well with the chicken curry. The prices are very affordable and the service is consistently good. I have visited before and the food was not always the best, but my last experience was excellent.
We have been ordering from Phoenix for over a decade, but we will not be ordering from them again. Lately, the quality of the food has been subpar, and today's meal was particularly disappointing. It is disheartening to see a once well-respected restaurant decline in this way.

The service at this restaurant is excellent and the food is truly amazing. It is definitely worth the money and I highly recommend it. The delivery service is also great, overall it is excellent all around.
