Wow! It has been a few months since we last visited Portofino, as we often gravitate towards restaurants in Southgate. However, that trend is definitely changing! This restaurant has made remarkable improvements in both service and atmosphere. We used to think of Portofino as a place reserved for special occasions, but we were pleasantly surprised to find a relaxed yet upscale dining experience. We started with the Climbs topped with strawberries, which were cooked to perfection, complemented beautifully by the spinach, strawberries, and balsamic drizzle. For my main course, I chose the sea bass—a personal favorite—and it was incredibly moist, tender, and simply delicious, especially when paired with sweet potato and spinach. My husband opted for the Ahi Tuna, which was perfectly cooked, accompanied by freshly steamed vegetables.

Amazing view! The highlight of Portofino is undoubtedly the ambiance and the stunning riverside views. Be sure to request a table by the window or dine outside when the weather is nice. The servers have consistently been friendly, quick, and efficient. I really enjoyed the Cobb Salad, which is large and full of freshness. However, my experience with the perch sandwich was inconsistent; it was quite dry on one occasion. While I do feel the prices are a bit steep for the food offered, I've had good experiences overall and believe it's a lovely spot for a relaxing meal.
Made reservations for 12, to celebrate my mom's birthday. The service was awesome, the drinks were amazing (definitely try the house Cosmo, yum: , and the food was perfect...from appetizers to dessert. A wonderful time was had by all, especially mom. I highly recommend Portafino's to anyone who wants to step up their dining experience. You can even see the Detroit skyline off the river, from your table...bonus!!

Love the view while you eat, adds only the experience. Beautiful view of the water. The parts were big. I had the pasta with the syrup tips and sausage. I was impressed by how soft the tips were. Not overcooked like I tasted in other places. Everything the other had at our table was also good for taste and quality.
I heard this place might be closing? I really hope they come back. The location is fantastic. It may be a bit dated, but it's no worse than Sibley Gardens. I had a wonderful happy hour there and the quesadilla was delicious.
The Cajun salmon sandwich was disappointing; there wasn’t enough aioli sauce, and the salmon was burnt in some areas while undercooked in others. The wedge salad appeared as if it had been assembled by a child.
We were a large group and the service was wonderful, the food delicious, and the atmosphere made it even better. Thanks for making a birthday party very happy. Would definitely go again and again!
