This was my first time eating at Portillo's and I was looking forward to it having heard many good things online about the cake shake and Italian beef. Overall I'm going to have to give it another try but not this restaurant in particular.The food was pretty darn good overall. My fries were crispy and the sandwiches were hearty and well prepared. BUT, the shake machine was down which was almost the entire reason I wanted to try this place and the guy taking my order, Anthony, clearly didn't want to be there and when I asked further questions about the status of the shake machine, I was met with a healthy dose of sarcasm. The guy behind the bar also looked dazed and confused most of the time...
We went in to this restaurant and it was late. They were 10 minutes from closing and instead of serving us multiple employees said “we’re closed”. The employee that took our order said they were still open at 10:20 and their hours were until 10:30. We tried to order food and multiple employees basically said they didn’t want to serve us because it was too late. We said that it was fine it was too late and we left but multiple employees yelled at us as we left and told us to get out. We ordered delivery from this restaurant and unfortunately did not receive our complete order (a burger was missing), which required some time on the phone and through the app to resolve. However, the issue was eventually handled about 30 minutes later. The Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken was delicious, with a good amount of dressing and a side of House Bread. Overall, the food made up for the service, which can be challenging for restaurants.
I have visited this restaurant twice in the past month, and the service at pickup is terrible. The person in charge just walks around yelling and slamming trays, showing no personality or kindness. Even when it is not busy, the pickup staff jokes and talks so loudly that it can be heard throughout the entire restaurant. The food is really good for a chain restaurant, but if I were the manager, I would completely overhaul the staff.

Went here last week to get a slice of their famous chocolate cake. The décor and ambience was very unique and cozy and the cake was for sure worth the trip. The staff member who helped me, Mitch, was extremely polite and memorable his fantastic customerservice and hospitality is what prompted me to write this review. If you?re ever in the area I highly recommend you stop byhere!
Great for a quick stop! The food is exactly what you expect. Not healthy, but tasty! Chicago dogs, Italian beef, crinkle cut fries with cheese sauce, and cake shakes that are more than anyone needs to eat... but treat yourself, right?I've been to both locations in the metro and a couple in Chicago and I can't tell the difference. Consistency is the key to success!
Portillo?s was a very nice place for lunch. The food and service was excellent. Clean facility with a variety of food selections. Those of you who are from the Windy City, Chi-town, Chicago will love their Italian beef sandwiches and hot dogs!!!So if your feel like some nostalgia and good food stop in and grab a bite to eat!!
Huge fan of Chicago style dogs. Their veggie Chicago dog is everything I expected. The veggie dog has a little spice to it. The veggie dog is smaller than the regular hot dog, but I think it makes it easier to ear. Their chocolate cake shake is the bomb.

The fries are mediocre. The hot dog is okay. But the beef sandwich - now that is delicious. I could eat so much of them that I would make myself sick if I had the opportunity. Overall food rating: 4 out of 5.
First time having a burger from here. Actually really good. It's almost as good as a butter burger
