First, Matt, the bartender/waiter was really great! His service was Top Notch! We ordered chicken wings and pastrami sandwich. Her wings were one of the best we ever had. They were so juicy and crispy! The pastrami sandwich was stacked so high and we know why they call it Katz-Meow. Moisture and delicious and perfect amount of fat ratio! It's up next to Katz Deli! We traveled to Essen and had to try this place! The sign “Herzsandwiches” pulled us in. So happy we stopped!
It took over an hour to get bar food, even an order of tater tots for my 2 year old, who ate potato chips for dinner it got so late. And there were only a few other people there. Several of the orders were burnt, returned, and those second orders came out before tater tots and grilled cheese! Horrible service, and the food wasn't much better (some food served was good, other orders awful). Will never go there again. Very nice people, but doing a very poor job.
My friend greets to go here, he says the place has great sandwiches, he would know he is an inspiring cook. I myself did not have the opportunity to stop and sample their food ..
Revisited this place for the first time in 10 years and it is still great!! A cozy little bar that is welcoming and has a wide selection of beer!
