For starters, we had half a dozen Colchester oysters served naturale with mignonette, lemon, Tobasco and a smoky chilli jam. Oysters aren’t something I eat too often, but are still something I enjoy and know about. The oysters tasted fresh, they were meaty and delicious, not overly salty no complaints there. All the oysters I’ve ever had, were served on ice so as to keep them fresh and cold, these were just sat on the plate, which was a little disappointing, but it didn’t take away from the experience much. We also had 3 small ‘nibble plates’ whitebait with peri peri sauce and roasted garlic aioli, chicken skewer with warm peanut relish, and sea salted flat breads with houmous and aubergine...

My family and I decided to dine out at the Quay tonight, as we had enjoyed our dining experience there before covid. For my starter, I ordered calamari and crevettes sautéed with café de Paris butter sauce, chili, and sourdough bread. The prawns were delicious, but the calamari was slightly chewy, indicating it had been overcooked. My wife and son had the samosas, which came with tasty chutney. They enjoyed the flavorful appetizer. For my main course, I ordered the Calcutta Cod curry, which was cooked perfectly, but lacked depth of flavor. The service was polite and attentive. My wife's steak burger was cooked to her liking, and my son enjoyed his chicken burger. The portion size of chips wa...

We turned up at 7pm on a Tuesday night, as booked in advance. It was quiet to start, lights not on and looked possibly closed. Nevertheless, walked in and warmly greeted and seated. Nice big open restaurant and very friendly staff. Within half an hour the restaurant lights were on, a few more people and the atmosphere changed for the good We ordered drinks, calamari and crevette starter and sticky cauliflower, followed by cod curry and bengal prawns. All the food was plentiful and excellent quality. The curry had a depth of flavour, the bengal prawns huge, sticky cauliflower to start definitely recommend. The waiters are helpful and good quick service. The other main food served here is stea...

I've been wanting to eat here for some time now but have never got around to it. Finally booked in and i'm glad we did. Welcoming, friendly staff at the door and taken to our table. Wasn't particularly busy and we were seated in the annexe. Nice menu, lots of choice. Chilli jam with the prawns was nice and my steak was cooked to perfection (I love it when a chef doesn't hate well done meat eaters). Wife had the sea bass, she loved it, but was a bit boney. Sticky toffee pudding finished off, just right. I think in the annexe, it is too easy to be forgotten about as it could be difficult to gain the waiter's attention when wanting a drink refill, pudding menu, etc. Definitely go to come back a... My wife and I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant last night. We started with delicious small plates of whitebait, halloumi fries, and hummus. The menu offered a variety of enticing options, and we chose to share the butcher's block. While the sirloin arrived undercooked, the manager handled the situation professionally and apologized. Despite this minor hiccup, the food was excellent. We enjoyed a bottle of Merlot at the perfect temperature, which was a nice change from other restaurants that serve it too cold. The meal ended on a sweet note with a complimentary dessert. We look forward to returning for another enjoyable dining experience.

I’ve always been fond of this restaurant. Its always done things differently and caters for different tastes. Meat or fish its not your chain restaurant style, you can adapt anything you want to suit to your own taste. On our last visit one fussy friend changed everything and it was no problem for the staff so clearly they are cooking to order. Great stuff

Had a superb meal yesterday after a long time away. Started with very tast samosas. For mains, my friend had the cod curry, I went for an old favourite, the indian spiced lamb chops which were absolutely delicious. Nice bottle of pinot to accompany. Service from the 2 guys serving was spot on..attentive and courteous. Really enjoyable evening!

The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and the staff is exceptional. The seafood and rotisserie chicken were both very good. It was not very busy for a Saturday night, but definitely worth a visit. Book a table now
