Made a reservation in June and we eagerly awaited our visit for five months. We were not disappointed. The food was fantastic, eaten & served in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We informed the restaurant that we spoke no German in advance and English menus greeted us...along with two waitresses...(Daniela & Natalie)...who spoke English and were very patient with me...(I have a Liverpudlian accent which must have made understanding me quite difficult)...the food was plentiful, well cooked & exceptionally tasty...80 Euros for 2 x three course meals and eight drinks was...(I thought)...excellent value...well done to everybody there...
We were there with friends for a nice evening. It is located in the basement of the old town and serves seasonal and local dishes. You have English menu as well as vegan options. No way to be disappointed. We have their winter special dish, wild boar roast, that is...wild boar with red cabbage and knodel (a soft ball of Sommelbrot). Perfectly cooked and excellent. As with a German court, I and my 10 years old son could share a court (share is quite generous). They have their restaurants in many cities around Germany. We also saw one in Bremen. I would recommend it without hesitation.

Das Essen war einfach nur spitze. Wir waren mit 10 Personen da und jeder hat sein Essen zeitgleich bekommen und wirklich jeder von uns war mehr als zufrieden. Das Essen war einfach nur köstlich. Ein großes Lob auch noch mal an die hervorragende Bedienung. Man hatte wirklich das Gefühl, dass alle mit Herz und guter Laune dabei waren. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.
Waren zu zweit am Samstag wieder mal im Ratskeller und unsere Erwartungen wurden nicht enttäuscht. In Oldenburg der beste Service, einfach aufmerksam und freundlich. Schnitzel super lecker und ausreichend. Auf die Extrawünsche meiner Partnerin wurde vollends eingegangen und das Lachsgericht personalisiert. Wir kommen wieder und wieder und wieder :
In a warm afternoon we sat outside, so we didn't really go to the cellar. Whole food, smiles and helpful waitress, but the service was a little slow. It's good to have lunch here at thirty. We had... asparagus, green and white, well cooked and beautifully presented.
Ein angenehmer Abend bei leckerem Essen. Die Terrasse war sehr gut besucht. Das Personal trotzdem souverän und freundlich. Wir bekamen alle gleichzeitig unser Essen. Es hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt.
