The meals have steadily been going downhill. Last night my son said his nuggets tasted funny, I thought nothing of it until he asked to leave early and spent the first part of the night vomiting. My cutlery arrived in the sauce from my chicken so I had to unwrap it covered in food and get up and get myself another pile of napkins. The bar staff are great, as are the regular wAit staff. Some not so good, don't run back to the kitchen while discussing my meal. At times the salmon has been undercooked, but I still think it is the nicest meal on the menu. On of our regular joints when we visit Cairns every "winter". I had the rib steak. The steak was good. The salad ok. The pepper sauce was excellent. One point off for the silly outdated presentation fad: I cannot abide the meat piled on top of what would otherwise have been very decent chips.My companions all ordered the lamb shanks which they thoroughly enjoyed.Prices are reasonable except the steaks. Drinks prices are tending towards high for a self service pub.In summary: put the chips in seperate basket and it would be a five pointer.
We had a great dinner. My husband and I both had Salmon which was very nice. We enjoyed the meal so we decided to return the next night for dinner too. I had Greek Grilled chicken salad, which I thoroughly enjoyed and my husband had grilled fish chips and salad. His fish was grilled baramundi which he said was delicious! We would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Staff were great. The hotel was recommended by our accomodation, Lake Placid Tourist Park!
I've been to this place a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is superb and a great value. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and perfect for families or groups. Special shoutout to Emily behind the bar--she, like the rest of the staff, are extremely nice and welcoming. Highly recommend.

I recently went to a function and paid $40 per head for a buffet meal, the food was average and nobody could go back for a second plate as the food run out. The dessert was way below average. I WOULD NOT recommend anybody book a function there and expect to walk out feeling full. Will not be going back
Dropped in for a refreshing ale after our recent Skyrail trip (it's just up the road from Freshwater station). Didn't eat, but the atmosphere is family orientated and the beers cold. She's also got all the usual features (TAB etc) so she caters to most people.Worth stopping off to clear the throat.
We spent there some evening time for a dinner or just to have a beer. Great place with kind people, with a lot of locals and aussie families. A nice atmposhere for us who were there for a a great trip in the northern Queensland and Cape York peninsula.
Visited here with family and was impressed. Typical pub food that didn't disappoint. Generous meals and great service. All 9 meals came out together and with a smile. Plenty to choose from but I couldn't go past the salt and pepper squid. Delicious!

Went with friends fir dinner, barramundi with salsa was iutstanding and my wifes salmon cooked perfectly. Congratulations to the new chef. Staff friendly and helpful, we will be back.
