One of my favourite coffee haunts in South Melbourne has recently started serving breakfast. I’ve always drooled over their cake display but hadn’t eaten their yet and breakfast was a prospect I couldn’t pass up. The Clarendon street strip of South Melbourne is full of great places to eat, but this French patisserie is notable for its inviting exterior, delectable cakes and the two friendly brothers who run it. Peti Tresor would have not caught my eye for the savoury display on the window, but I was checking some of the terrariums they have on display and I realised it was a patisserie. The place is very small and with a very clear French blueprint; quiet, comfortable and cozy. They make all their food and cakes in the premises. <br/ <br/ I have tried a few pastries and individual cakes. The latest are great Glossy, colourful, flavourful, and fresh. <br/ <br/ The pastries look fabulous, however the danishes we tried had too much sugar in them, so the taste of the fruit gets lost or, put differently, it has never the space to shine. This place has such a wide variety of delicious gems for all times of the day. My absolute favourite for breakfast is the smoked salmon, which is served on toast with asparagus, finished off with poached eggs and a zesty salsa and crispy shallots. However; in the winter months I can't go past the croque-monsieur! The two brothers Kenny and Terry have done a fantastic job. Their cakes and macarons are to die for as well.
Sometimes you just need something a little bit naughty and calorific!! Petit Tresor is not for those on a diet, they are temptation personified! Their beautiful little store has windows, fridges and display cabinets packed full of beautiful baked treats. There are stunning savouries and the prettiest cakes to choose from, a damn good coffee and there are always nice staff waiting to bring you whatever you desire.

Mrs Canuck and I stopped for a coffee and brownie while strolling down Clarendon Street. The brownie was full of chocolate and walnuts and was moist but not soggy. The service was friendly and polite.<br/ <br/ The dessert selection on this Sunday was limited to about a dozen items but has something for everyone.<br/ <br/ PS. They have their own clean toilets. That's not common in this area.
Magnetised by the display of cakes and macaroons in the front counter, we settled down to enjoy a brunch of croque madame (bacon, cheese sandwich with bechamel sauce and a fried egg) and baked eggs with chorizo. The eggs had so much flavour and the yolks just burst in my mouth. A peanut butter macaroon that tasted like... peanut butter. Delicieux!
Not a place to go whilst watching your figure or if your wish to stay away from the more fattening/sugar filled options.<br/ <br/ But for when you are... Yummy. Very yummy and pure evil. Would I go back? Yes but would do so as a rare delighful treat, very delightful.<br/ <br/ Service was a bit mediocre, but otherwise well worth a try.
Drool worthy cakes and delicious coffee to go with it! the dark chocolate macaron I had was perfect, the menu looks great to, will come back for the full brekky experience next time

Really nice chicken baguette. Their chicken is very tender, the lettuce are crispy and the bread is crunchy and chewy at the same time. can't wait to try their cakes as well!
Really nice place. Quality price is very good... Pain au chocolat with fresh orange juice hot chocolate. Poached eggs with brioche and bacon. Perfect breakfast mix french oz.
