Without a doubt, Renzo is a statement piece. It has a quaint charm to it as it's nestled in a neighborhood near downtown Charleston. In my opinion, it's a perfect first date spot. The small and intimate atmosphere is one that would surely impress a love interest. Matter of fact, there were multiple dates happening around us. If you're looking to step onto the town right after, this is not the place. There's not much on the street other then them and a catty corner speakeasy bar. You'll definitely have to uber to your next location. The menu is petite, which I personally did not mind. It made it simple to pick an appetizer and entree. Again, great for a first date when you want to be focusing...
This has the potential to be good, and they were super busy. But their oven is far too hot. Which is causing the crust to burn and the toppings not getting adequate time to cook. I saw the couple nexts to me's pizza lose all the toppings as there wasn't enough cheese to hold it all together and the crust gets kind of mushy towards the center and flops it all off, the undercarriage needs work. Maybe less sauce would prevent it from being so floppy. I'd expect that oven to be over 950f. Drop the oven temp, get a good flame across the top, and it will fix this issue. I've used similar ovens, and they are hard to control, but you shouldn't be serving heavily burnt pizzas. The sauce tasted good,...
Renzo was great. We originally wanted to try a different Italian restaurant, but Renzo was not a disappointment. We ordered the gnudi for an appetizer. It was amazing. One of my new favorite italian dishes. I'd never heard of it before, but it's like a fluffy dumpling made of ricotta and parmesan cheese. It's similar to gnocchi, but lighter and fluffier. It was in this delicious pesto sauce. We ordered the Genghis Khan pizza and Fungi pizza. The Genghis Khan had a little bit of a kick to it. You could definitely tell it had spices that made it different than your average pizza. The Fungi had a lot of mushrooms on it. Borderline too much but it was still great.
I'd say it's alright. Pizza was a little burnt on the crust and soggy in the middle. However, the ricotta gnudi was delicious, and I enjoyed the Caesar salad as well. I came in a group with 6 others with a reservation, and we weren't seated for 40 mins, but they did cover our first round of drinks as a result. Then they told us we could only order 3 pizzas and that they were out of the only gluten-free chicken dish option because of a broken appliance. They ended up being able to make us 5 pizzas AND the GF dish, but it's weird they told us they couldn't upfront, and then still did... anyway, I probably wouldn't go back.

I absolutely love Renzo. As their neighbor directly across the street, I can confidently say that not only is their food fantastic, but they are also great neighbors who care deeply about the area. I particularly enjoy their delicious Caesar salad, flavorful pizzas (they're all good no matter the flavor), and their grandma sauce is exceptional. The overall dining experience at Renzo is top-notch. They are reliable, laid-back, and committed to serving quality food in their community.

Wonderful service, reasonably priced drinks and food. Very authentic Italian cuisine, everything was delicious! They actually answer their phone and treat you like they want you there. Thank you!
Really enjoyed the food and wine. Service was just enough not overly attentive but always knew when to stop by. Had two delicious pizzas and the gnudi, which was plenty for three people.
