I visited on Sunday afternoon (October 9, 2022) for some drinks and appetizers. The place was quite empty, so I chose a table on the patio and sat there for about five minutes. Unfortunately, both bartenders and a server sitting at the bar were engrossed in their phones and completely overlooked us. After waiting with no service, I decided to leave. I gave it 2 stars solely for the service; the food and drinks might be fantastic, but I’ll never find out. On this occasion, there was no sign of Southern hospitality—unless you count the attention given to their cell phones.
I stopped for a drink at 4 PM on a Sunday while visiting the area from Pawleys Island, where I live. I’m middle-aged, as is my friend, while most of the other patrons were younger, which didn’t bother us. However, I received an unfriendly glance from a staff member wearing a backwards hat who was cleaning tables in the garden area. The bartender was quite rude as well. There are too many great bars nearby with friendly bartenders and excellent drinks to waste time at this one. This will be my first and last visit.
I 'm a local and I 've frequented this place often for many years since it opened, but I doubt I 'll return. I went with a group of 6 friends this past Saturday and I was the last in the group to attempt to get in the door before being told by the young white bouncer that I couldn 't come in because I had on high tops. He then opened the cordon rope, said have a nice night and let me out of the line. I sat outside in disbelief as they literally let the person right behind
I guess they close the kitchen at 6pm so no food. Nothing like the show. I guess that’s not there S-Th. Also all bachelorettes and wedding parties. Thursday night during spring break last week. The night before Good Friday! Inside was closed! Bummer! Bouncer was nice and explained its really a weekend only tunnel and bridge crowd!

One of my favorite night life scenes! All the girls and bar tenders are super nice. The lines do get very long, so I suggest going early if you have a large group. The music is on point and you can tell by the crowd everyone loves it. I highly suggest splitting the funds for a table. The patio is fun for a Sunday funday
We had a fabulous time Sunday afternoon and were so happy to see republic was open during the day. We sat outside at the bar, which is in a perfectly decorated courtyard and enjoyed prosecco and other great cocktails! The bartenders were the best!! Can't wait to go back.
I was thinking of coming there when I come to visit Charleston this weekend, but I think I 'll pass...Based on the reviews of this place it doesn 't sound very inclusive. Clearly the dress code is meant to exclude certain Types , but is enforced selectively.
Great place to have a good time! It gets very busy on the weekends, especially as the night goes on. There's a cover charge after 10 PM. The garden is really charming, and the music is excellent!

Not sure what it's like during the day, but it's a young crowd and more like a night club in the evenings. They had a dj outside while we were there and tables with firepits. Fun spot!
Fires people when the head server tells everyone they can drink not to get caught. Seems to only want white girls as bottle girls I would never come here
