As we were walking in the quaint older section of Fussen we noted a bustling haven from the dull damp Bavarian evening. Deciding to opt for this as our choice for dinner we were fortunate to be seated at the last available table for two....The busy restaurant was worthy of the tables all being occupied and the staff were all very helpful and accommodating, the German ambiance being matched by their own lederhosen. Menu very much focused upon German Bavarian cuisine. Being full to burst already with meats and potatoes my traveling companion insisted I try the Apfelstrudel (Now I am not usually a desert person, however, when in Germany and all that !! It was fabulous :
Stopped in here because it was raining and it was close by. So glad we did. Fun and cozy ambiance. We were seated next to a German couple on vacation which was awkward at first but turned out to be really fun and interesting for...both of us. And they gave us good recommendations on the menu. Schweinebraten for me which was very delicious, especially the red cabbage; and roasted meat (pork) on a spit on a bed of cheesy spaetzle for my wife really flavorful. So good we’re hoping to return tomorrow night!
This was the worst food I've had the entire weeks I have been Barvaria. The steak was the cheapest cut and tasted almost like liver and the topped with Durkee like dried onions. Green beans with bacon had almost no flavor (I actually found...that difficult to make that so bland) only ate half the meal and thought why bother. The waiter and could have cared less that I complained. I would avoid the restaurant completely.
While walking around Fussen, we stopped at Aquila for lunch. The menu had something for everyone. There was Bavarian food on the menu and also lunch specials. The potato soup was warm and refreshing

My wife and I ate here twice in two days. A total a four different meals and they were all excellent. Friendly staff, great beer and reasonable prices.
We had a very good typical Bavarian meal here. The venison and boar sausages were a standout and the turkey schnitzel was a pleasant surprise.
