We've been recommended to visit this particular restaurant after visit the Gruyeres Castle and the cuisine of this restaurant just made the effect of out continued stay in the Castle. We felt as if we are in ancient times and are inhabitants of the Castle. Meals are simply but ancient and very tasty. We've been recommended to take fondue and meringues for desert. We love that and other meals we've ordered. We recommend you to book the restaurant beforehand. We did it on the way to the Castle just asked to book a table for us and that we will come in 3 hours.
We went to this restaurant after reading the reviews, however I must say that after our visit we were a little disappointed, the location is very good and the fondue was also good (though the menu has no variety), nevertheless we were surprised by the behavior of the waitresses, we were waiting for 15 minutes but no one came, we called one of them but she did not appeared until another 10 minutes, she seemed annoyed every time we requested something (bread, another drink or the bill)
We ate here 2 times, once for lunch and once for dinner, each time we found a table for two without a reservation but I recommend that you make one especially when it is high season. I had a quiche Gruyeres and a salad Gruyeres. The quiche was served with a small salad. Both tasted amazing. Their roast beef is not your normal one, check my picture...it looks like cured meat, but my husband said it was SO delicious. Service was good and fast, pleasant atmosphere, nice, rustic décor.
After a long day spent touring the various cheese and chocolate factories in the area, this is a lovely place to have a meal. Excellent raclette and fondue. The dessert of double cream is even better. Service is friendly.
