Pinar Restaurant is one of the most authentic Turkish places in Basel and the surrounding area. Their Döner is by far the best in the city. Most other places in Basel use processed meat from a factory that arrives frozen, but at Pinar everything is homemade and simply perfect!!!! So juicy! The open kitchen lets you watch them cook, and it is immediately clear that they are highly professional. The flavors are authentic and outstanding. The bread is light and fluffy like clouds, and together with the Döner meat and their perfectly seasoned salad, it creates a dish of absolute perfection. This is a place that deserves 5 out of 5. We went here for the first time and I must say the food was good. The hugo/aperol should be avoided as this is not a drinks place, so stick with standard bottled drinks. We ordered a mezze, two main courses and water, and the two cocktails. Bill was 80chf which is slightly on the higher side for a basic restaurant. The stuffed aubergine was good though the menu 2 was just at par. Would I here again perhaps but the good part was that the food was freshly made. They ran out of humus but compensated with other stuff. so net summary was it was not a highlight but decent food.
We came back to this restaurant after several pleasant dinners some years ago. Today’s dinner was extremely disappointing. The food was bland, overcooked and oversalted. It felt like eating at a bad doener stand. The service is -as always- very friendly, but that does not compensate for horrible good. We will not come back.
Die türkischen Spezialitäten munden vorzüglich in diesem gastfreundlichen Restaurant an sehr guter Lage und mit dem öffentlichen Verkehr sehr gut erreichbar. Die Speisekarte erinnert an selbst erlebte Türkeireisen. Die Speisen werden liebevoll hergerichtet, sie erfreuen den Gaumen.

Seit bald 20 Jahren gehe ich in unregelmässigen Abständen ins Pinar. Die Qualität des Essens und die Freundlichkeit sind gleich hoch geblieben. Die Innenausstattung des Lokals wurde seit meinem letzten Besuch verschönert!
Leckeres Essen (unglaublich feine Joghurtsauce!!), freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal, stimmiges Ambiente und angemessene Preise. Vorallem die verschiedenen Menus laden ein
Leckeres Essen und relativ günstig. Fleisch kommt von einem guten Metzger. Der Service könnte aber deutlich besser sein.
Spartan place, very good food and very nice people. Really a little secret in the center of Basel. Highly recommended
