This is one of the well kept Basel secrets. The restaurant is open only in the summer, so there are only a few chances to enjoy it. On top of St Margarethen hill, it is best reached by foot or bike. The restaurant is in a grange converted into restaurant with amazing furniture in the courtyard of a working cow farm, so it is a very different and attractive setting. We had brunch there, and given the difficulty of finding good brunch in Basel, we were very happy with our new discovery. Wir hatten unseren GL Ausflug und durften zu Gast auf einem Bauernhof am Rand von Basel den Abend genießen. Nach einem kurzen Fußweg erreichten wir den Bauernhof. Wer Mühe hat mit Bauernhof Ambiente sollte den Weg dorthin sparen. Es duftet nach Natur. Auch frei fliegende Vögel in dem umgebauten Speisesaal können vorkommen. Wer aber was Abwechslung sucht und offen ist für tolle Locations, dann unbedingt besuchen. Ich war überwältigt von dem Konzept. Der Weg zum WC über den Hof kann bei Regen nicht so toll sein aber für das gibt es ja auch Schirme. Wobei man ja zum essen kommt und nicht die sanitären Anlagen bewertet. Das essen ist ausgezeichnet. Working dairy farm who have converted old farm buildings with great effect to provide both outdoor and indoor seating. Coffee and range of bread , pastries, ham and cheeses on the table. Then help yourself to the buffet hot brunch (bacon, eggs, rosti) , muslei, apricot tart etc.. all really delicious. Once you can eat no more wander round for a good view of Basel from the terrace.
We had a friend's wedding here yesterday. Cornelia and her team did an amazing job to help make it a huge success. The food was excellent; as was the service. We closed the place out at 3:30 in the morning and she was still there making sure everything ran smoothly. We loved having the church service, apero and reception all at the same place.
