The overall arrangement was well below our expectations. The welcome and initial explanations about the menu were attentive and the evening got off to a good start. We all ate three courses à la carte. The dishes on the small menu made you want more, but they also have impressive prices (which is normal in a place like this). The ambience is ok, there is no attention to detail or seating where you can enjoy 5 or 6 courses. All the dishes we ate were well made, but clearly not refined enough for these prices. If I go out to eat for two people and spend 300-350 francs, then there are some restaurants in Switzerland that offer significantly more for the money. It was also hectic in service, you...
The atmosphere is really nice and indeed the owners are willing to do and to do well. However it is clear that there is still a lot to be improved expecially in the menu, in the description of the dishes and in the organization of the time. They do not bring the menu at the table, they use blackboards which is a very nice idea. However they do not provide description of the dishes and some plates results totally different than what you would expect. Also timing should be mentioned expecially when for some dishes it is necessary to wait more than 20 minutes. The client might be willing to wait but needs to know in advance. The type of food is nice. However still to be improved.
Zollhaus New under the name “Verena” Re-opening since November 5th, 2022 With a new concept and slight structural changes. Very nice location from 1786 with a touch of modernity. Tina's friendly and confident service makes you feel wonderfully cared for and allows you to enjoy the evening to the fullest.
