Starting with the cosmetic issues: our bathroom had black mold in the shower and faulty silicone. We stayed in the Lodge, where we found curtains that didn’t hang properly and a leak in the spa treatment room that caused brown water to drip into the shower from the ceiling. We also had an ironing board but no iron. Since the Lodge is a 15-minute walk from the main hotel, they refused to send anyone over to assist us between 8 PM and 9 AM, leaving us with a crumpled shirt for the evening. Beyond cosmetic concerns, there are serious health and safety issues. The uneven concrete in the parking lot has caused significant damage to our car and poses a danger to pedestrians. Went for a spa treatment and cream tea (part of a package. The place was delightful and we were made very welcome and offered free tea or coffee as part of the package. Facial and back massage were wonderful and so relaxing. We also got a free upgrade to afternoon tea as one of our therapists was not available, so we had to have our treatments separately. But that was no bother. Lovely to sit in the drawing room and contemplate the gardens, or read a book in the library. Can recommend tea in the conservatory. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Will definitely return. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Great value
Had a great stay. It is a truly family friendly place and the nursery and children's library were a big hit with our little girl. The grounds and building itself are stunning and service was great. Pool was nice and warm with lots of floaties. Dinner was excellent, lunch a bit limited so would advise going out for it. Afternoon tea needs to be booked in advance. They say dogs aren't allowed off lead but there are safe places to let them off nearby. Changing facilities at the pool a bit limited and access involves going outside so using the robes probably the best option. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5
Went for Sunday lunch, staff friendly and food delicious, only slight downfall was the wait on mains, watching other tables meals come out before ours who ordered later slightly disappointing, also dessert order not correct but we ate it anyway. The staff though as mentioned were great, apologetic and understanding. The concept (family-orientated luxury break) is great, but £3,000 for a three night stay for two adults plus 5yo and 2yo is too much. Food was not good and the price did not match the standard of accommodation; lumpy mattresses, small beds, stains across the soft furnishings, water leaking in through the roof and windows. Faded grandeur of the ancestral family estate repeating itself.
When it comes to food and drinks, the prices are on the higher end for average fare. On a positive note, the staff are consistently friendly and hardworking, and they truly deserve to be recognized for their efforts. Overall, the ratings would be: Rooms: 1 Service: 3 Location: 5 Hotel highlights include a fantastic view and a kid-friendly atmosphere.
I had a very comfortable large bedroom overnight, and a good evening meal. The meeting rooms were OK, the better one is the old kitchen, in the basement. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to with no noticeable delays. There is plenty of car parking, and my attendees appeared to be very pleased with the Ickworth. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
I absolutely adore this place! It's located right next to Ickworth (National Trust), which gives it extra points for my room's stunning view of the magnificent Rotunda. However, this hotel is completely... Book a table now
