Shabby and failing to be chic. We had attentive serviceand the staff well and truly make this place but considering the price they charge for a stay on a weekend the venue is truly worn and torn and in need of a serious bit of maintenance. First there is the cosmetic aspects: black mould in the shower/bathroom silicone (we stayed in the Lodge , curtains that weren 't hanging on their curtain rings properly, a leak in the spa treatment room dripping brown water into the shower from the ceiling. Ironing board but no iron (we stayed in the Lodge which is a good 15 min walk from the main hotel and they refused to send anyone over between 8pm and 9am. So crinkled shirt it was.... Had a great stay. It is a truly family friendly place and the nursery and children's library were a big hit with our little girl. The grounds and building itself are stunning and service was great. Pool was nice and warm with lots of floaties. Dinner was excellent, lunch a bit limited so would advise going out for it. Afternoon tea needs to be booked in advance. They say dogs aren't allowed off lead but there are safe places to let them off nearby. Changing facilities at the pool a bit limited and access involves going outside so using the robes probably the best option. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5

Rooms: Very shabby. They seem thoroughly cleaned and maintained by the staff as well as possible, but they are far overdue for some investment from the hotel owner. It’s clear this place is being milked for all it’s worth by the owner. Food drinks: High end pricing for mid range food. Noteworthy details: They staff are universally friendly and seem very hard working. They deserve some recognition. Rooms: 1 Service: 3 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Kid-friendly

Interesting building, fantastic grounds, other than that a bit shabby, rundown, slack service, cleaning and security. Having said all that, the sun shone so I enjoyed it.
