Local recommendations led us to try this hotel for dinner, with promises of a great meal. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We arrived in the afternoon to book a table during a festival weekend. Coming from Queensland, we requested a table by the fire due to the cold and wet weather. Despite being told there would be no problem, when we returned later to eat, our table was the farthest from the fire. The staff were friendly and helpful, but clearly overwhelmed. Two of the meals we received were not what we had ordered, and when we asked for a substitute, we were informed that they had run out of seafood. The schnitzel was bland and overly breaded, while the calamari was the on...

I was very disappointed with my dining experience at this restaurant. The menu looked great online, but the prawns with garlic sauce were not flavorful and the rice was dry. When I inquired about a salad, the waitress was unsure and suggested there might be vegetables in the rice, which there were not. On a positive note, the oysters Kilpatrick had a nice sauce and bacon, and the waitress was honest about them being frozen. The lamb skewers and barramundi were also reported to be lacking in flavor, with the pita under the lamb being dry and inedible. Overall, the quality of the food did not meet my expectations from my previous visits to this establishment. The service was friendly but unpro...

The service at this restaurant was well below average, but to be fair, the staff appeared to be very young. After finally being seated, we were informed that we had to order and pay inside. Despite the wait, the entree was delicious and the mains were decent. However, the dessert, a chocolate brownie with berry compote and ice cream, was a disappointment. The berry compote was missing and when we asked for it, we were given a jug of strawberry topping meant for kids' ice cream. The brownie was also dry and not worth eating. Overall, it would be better to travel a bit further to dine at Watervale or Sevenhill hotels.

Always a favourite to pop in for lunch on the way to Clare. My favourite is the Coopers beer battered fish (flathead) chips with coleslaw, The beer batter is divine, thick crispy hot, with fresh fish inside. The chips are amazing, and the yummy coleslaw has a nice savoury creamy dressing. Hubbie had his favourite, bangers mash. Unbeatable for pub grub. Great service also. We hadn’t booked but realised we should have, they were very busy, so pays to book. Book a table now

Group of 18 booked in. Order meals at Bar Order drinks at Bar. No table water. Meals come out 1 hr later over a time of 1 hour. My fish was burnt, loaded plate with chips, basic salad. 3 other people didn't eat their meals. Burnt, under cooked salt and pepper squid. Warm to hot night, no fan or air conditioner in dining area. Not impressed.

Nice cozy atmosphere on a cold day with a lovely fire going. My husband had a seafood curry which he enjoyed and I had a grilled vegetable risotto which was rather bland. We shared a serve of vegetable which were delicious. The service was patchy. But overall we had a nice lunch here.

We stayed at this country hotel on our driving holiday and decided to eat in. We were impressed by the quality and presentation of the dishes, friendly service from the hard working staff, and unbelievable value for money.

Had lunch here over Easter. Nice spot on the front verandah. Meals not exactly cheap but plenty of food. Table service was prompt and meals served in good time. Book a table now

If you are travelling from Clare to Adelaide, this makes a good stop for good coffee, and friendly service for coffee on the front verandah.
