Went for a lazy Saturday lunch to the restaurant. Relatively pricey, was really keen on not missing out on the local fish in beer batter this season so ordered that. Waiter suggested I go for pommes alumettes (matchstick fries) which I love, so agreed. My friend ordered the famous Zürigeschnetzeltes with Rösti. The food arrived in 5 minutes flat and I had 5 tiny pieces of fish for the princely sum of 42 swiss francs. I felt cheated, this food was clearly pre-prepared else there is no way it could arrive that fast. The matchstick fries were just thin french fries and not piping hot. None of the food was actually. And the Moscato wine I ordered which should have been chilled to really enjoy it...
The Restaurant Rössli in Hurden has excellent food. The quality of the cuisine and the excellent service is due to the team Günther Zechner, service chef and Lennart Loth, chef de cuisine (whom we unfortunately did not meet). We have visited the restaurant several times without knowing the team and have always been served excellently and the food is always exceptionally good at any time (lunch and dinner). Both the fish, which (in the case of freshwater fish) comes from the inland waters of Switzerland and Lake Zurich, and the quality of the meat are absolutely top notch. It is clear that this level including the phenomenal view of Lake Zurich has its price, but you won't regret this expense...
This restaurant that is a part of a hotel with the same name is situated on the lake. The place itself is worth to come and sit there. The food is delicious and very tasty. We have a great fish soup and Kalbsfleisch nacht Zurcher Art that were amazing. For desert we have home made ice cream, just great !!!
Service may be somewhat informal but was perfectly efficient. Setting and decoration perfect, cuisine superlative, prices reasonable for the performance. Nothing to say on the negative side.
