This is a quaint little restaurant stuck in the middle of a plaza beside Swiss Chalet and I have to say you could miss it driving up Yonge Street in Newmarket. All of the major restaurants on both sides of Yonge were jammed, so we opted to drive around and found the Roman Bistro. It was busy for a Saturday night and we waited 15 minutes for seating. It is recommended to make reservations on the weekends. The wait staff were very pleasant and the ambience was great with a bounty of Christmas decorations all around. This is a family run business with a traditional Italian inspired menu that will certainly appeal to the Italian in you.The veal parm is always the barometer dish I like to choose...
I bought a chicken salad for lunch yesterday and was thoroughly un-impressed. First of all the lady started to make my salad and the woman at the cash told her to take some of it out. The chicken was a pathetic size. It was roughly four tiny pieces the size of my thumb and was dry. Secondly there was only roughly four croutons in total. Thirdly i would equate the amount of bacon bits to a total of a quarter of a teaspoon, they were real however, which was nice. For $12.95, i would have expected a salad that would at least keep me full. Not too impressed to say the least.
We had just spent the better part of a week on a boat trip and were craving a delicious meal.The arancini siciliana was definitely the best I have tasted, and is served atop a perfectly seasoned rosé sauce - we ordered some to take home with us!I enjoyed the penne alla vodka which was cooked al dente, and my husband had the gnocchi in a rich and creamy gorgonzola sauce.The service was efficient, attentive, and professional. The interior is clean, well-designed and welcoming without being fussy. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area!
This Italian restaurant is awesome! Small, modern ambiance with fabulous food that won't disappoint. From the salads to the mains, finishing with their dessert and coffee it is awesome, Their service is topnotch. I honestly have never gone in there with an experience of bad food or service. This is my "go to" Italian place from now on. Their pasta by the way takes a while because it is hand made and fresh. You won't want to eat pasta anywhere else. I cannot say enough about this delightful family owned restaurant. The food is superb and the establishment is so clean and bright.Everything about this place pleases me. For the evening the tables are dressed with linen tablecloths and napkins.They always have a special and mine was unbelievably good. I chose their salmon.The service was fantastic, friendly but professional and the bread they serve is to die for.I have recommended this restaurant to everyone I know. It is a delightful eating experience.
This is a small location in a plaza off Yonge Street and does a very good takeout business given what we saw when we were there with friends. Pasta portions were generous and the salad I had was fresh and tasty.Two pasta meals were excellent The only thing lacking was the Veal Marsala I had which was tough and overcooked due to its thinness. Our friend who had veal parmesan was slightly disappointed at the veal being a bit tough.Overall I would go back but get a pasta dish
I met a friend I had not seen in a while. We had a lot to catch up on. Dinner was delicious. Our service was wonderful. Food,drinks and dessert were delivered quickly.Water glasses and coffee cups were refilled readily. We had great service but did not feel rushed. The atmosphere was pleasant. The Decor was Ancient Rome. I felt comfortable in my work clothes but other people were more casually dressed and still others more dressy. A delightful experience.
The arancini is the best I have tasted and a must try.The tomato sauce has love in it and I swear you can taste it.The veal sandwich is fantastic, order it with the homemade peppers if you like spice.When you go it feels like you are at a friends house for by the way the staff treat you, but the decor says you are in an upscale part of Italy.Don't let the storefront outside deter you.#1 Italian restaurant in area. What a great place! Authentic Italian food that never disappoints! Lunches are inexpensive, fast and good! Suppers are offered with lots of variety! We have been dining here on a regular basis for several years! Big groups or small, they serve them all!! You will never be disappointed with the food that comes out of this kitchen!
