We decided at the last minute to wander over to this hotel for tea on Saturday, mainly because it was within walking distance of my daughter's house. It is not a glitzy or trendy looking pub, but it has a warmth which is often lacking from more modern establishments. The staff were terrific - without exception - and the food surprised me because it was tasty, good value and better than I had thought it might be. What was especially nice, though, was the entertainment for the children. There was a face painter, and they also organised a mini-Olympic Games, which kept the kids entertained for quite sometime. Went for a sunday lunch with a group of around 30 adults/children. This pub has an outdoor play area for the kids and if you get in early there is a large table with a window that overlooks the play area so you can see what the kids are doing. Our family went to this pub on a regular basis when our children were young. Its a nice pub with plenty of room to move around (good for wheelchairs, prams etc.) The menu is typical pub fare with Shnitzels, pies, fish and so on. There is not much choice for vegetarians. Family dinner to celebrate a 91st birthday. WoW! Have they changed the venue - rearranged the Bistro area and no bar there now; new carpets and some new staff as well. The variety of food was good and even included "Christmas in July" selection including for Seniors menu. All meals were good and not one was complained about - a major selling point for the family as it is the first time we have been out for a meal without meals having to be sent back. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Since the bus to Northland, and the tram, passed by this place I would occassionally jump off and have a beer. While it is not walking distance from my house (it would take me 40 minutes) it was close enough to be reasonably convenient. In fact it is a fairly quiet pub, as far as suburban pubs go, and does have a reasonable ambience about the place. They offer cheap meals, and drink specials, but it is basically what I call a Woolworths pub - namely because it is owned by Woolworths. I'd probably come back again if I was in the area, and even though it isn't my favourite, it certainly isn't all that bad.

We have been eating here regularly for about 4 years now, and having moved temporarily to the area it's one of our favorites. Each weeknight specials are terrific value. I've never had a meal to complain about and our whole party when we go as a group are usually happy.One minor complaint is a waitress who can be a bit snippy and always looks hard-done-by. Generally the staff are lovely and friendly, service is good. Definitely recommend.
We had dinner here 2 weeks ago, Hubby's birthday this was its last chance and it didn't fail the test, the booking l made was under a different name, the meals where good to look at but my Wague burger tasted like sausage mince, the fish platter frozen bits and pieces Hubby's sausages and mash well he said it was nice .have tried this place time and time again but no more.Sorry better place to eat
We had roast beef and vegetables and lasagne. The beef was tender with good gravy although the vegetables were overcooked. My partner thought the Lasagne needed more meat. Coffee was excellent
There were two people who had great customer service skills. There was one vegetarian option. $125 dollars for below average food. Positives were quick service.

The service was disgusting. The food looked like it had been microwaved. Wasn't worth the money we paid. Think twice before eating or having a drink here.
