I have visited Rossi's on several occasions and found the ice cream nice but just that. I have tasted far better ice cream in other places and Rossi's seems to trade on reputation which is OK and good luck to them. What I have taken exception with and found wanting is the service which is very poor at times. Some of the staff can be dismissive and ignorant while there is no order in the queuing which means kids who have been standing for a while can be ignored if an adult comes in. In my opinion Rossi's needs to up it's game, improve it's service and customer service.
I was born in Newington but moved to cavehill Road and then Dublin in the 70s, I was about 11yrs old at the time and Rossi's was still a chip shop as well as ice cream, my dad used to get us fish and chips every Saturday night as well as ice cream, I moved to New York and lived there until 2004, I came back to Belfast, I still miss the fish and chips but the ice cream is still wonderful, I now work in a hospital and live on Atlantic avenue, just down the street from the shop, if you've never tried it then you haven't tasted real ice cream., Jim
This review is not about the quality of the ice cream at Rossi's, which is excellent, but rather about the high price of the product. I hadn't been in a while and was shocked to find that a small tub costs £2.80. Despite the fact that the staff were not wearing masks or stripey jumpers, I feel that this is a total rip-off. I will have to save up in order to return.
My wife grew up on the ice cream from this shop and recently took me for a visit. The shop is a bit pokey nearly to the point of one customer only. But ice cream was good and was a generous helping.
