The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant were lovely, creating a pleasant vibe, and the staff were friendly and attentive. However, the miso soup was quite salty, and the tofu lacked softness—I'd recommend skipping it. The seaweed salad, while visually appealing, was rather dull in flavor and didn't have much seaweed. The dressing felt off, lacking the necessary vinegar kick to balance the sourness of the green papaya. I suggest passing on that as well and focusing on the sushi instead. This is definitely one of the best authentic japanese restaurant in the city, although pricier than the other fantastic ones I tried before. The servers are very professional and friendly. Almost all our orders hit the spot, aside from the hamachi sushi in the sushi platter. i think it was not that fresh as it has a fishy aftertaste. Also when we reserved a table, we said it was my bday (because it was! . but there was no extra gesture that was given. I didnt want to expect, but they asked of there is an occasion and with other expensive restaurant, they will give you something extra like a special note to celebrate your day.
The sushi is priced based on the distance the raw fish travels from Japan. They don’t serve traditional fried tempura here; in fact, nothing is fried at all. It costs around $6 for a bowl, offering a unique experience to enjoy the decor and appreciate the service. However, I personally prefer more traditional options that come with a lower price point.

fantastic eating, service and atmosphere. I especially congratulate the charming host charlie, the best Sashimi manufacturer michael and the wonderful barman dmitri. I can't imagine a better way to spend silvester (although we were there very early, maybe later, next nye.)
ryu (westmount) is one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been. I was at all best; nobu, uchi, zuma, special places in nyc, etc. the fish is amazing, the staff is great. without taking off when I visit Montreal on the business, I always go to ryu. so good.
This is the best place for sushi and drinks! We chose the omakase, and wow— the sashimi, nigiri, and sushi were incredible. The service was impeccable! I give it a perfect 5/5. Bravo!
