First thing that will strike you about Sabai is the crazy neon lightshow and weird plasma screens covering the walls. Now these screens weren't showing the evening footy but displaying Windows style screens saver moving graphics cira 1997 style. Yes it was like being on acid, whilst trying to concentrate on eating the spiciest red curry I've ever consumed. Good job I like my chillies and I don't suffer from acid trip flashbacks, or this could have turned out to be the night from hell. Have to say food was rather tasty, but the portions were a little small considering the massively expensive prices £4 for a side of rice, you gotta be having a laugh). Hadn't been to Sabai for a while due to working away, Looks like it has been re decorated since my last visit. The bar area has a stunning mural type wallpaper which really makes a difference. I had the Tord Mun Pla (Thai fish cakes) as I usually do and they still taste great, just spicy enough but not overpoweringly so. Main course was Goong phad kaow phod on (Thai stir fried tiger prawns, great sized prawns and the portion size was good. I have always found the service to be good and this visit was no exception. I am not sure about this place, whether it's just too dark for me or something else is missing... but I would rate it for some reason 3 rather than 4. It's mainly the dark atmosphere that doesn't make me to come more often, with it's rather posh look. I think I have to come again to make myself clear about its rating. One must agree though, that the food presentation is beautiful! But other than the look of the restaurant and the food I think the food could be comparable to other thai places so here you will mainly pay extra for the look. I ate here in April 2013 while in Aberdeen. We were recommended Sabai Thai by the hotel concierge. The restaurant is very nice, downtown location, works well as a romantic dinner or a large group dinner. The food was fantastic very tasty Thai! Had some great vegetarian and seafood options! Reasonably priced would recommend.
Great service and food but the atmosphere makes me feel like i've been in Alice in Wonderland tripping on acid. There are bubble walls with changing lights and the ceiling has changing LED's too.
Had a meal here last night. Food was good as was the service. Decor was a bit crazy with an underwater light show all around you. Only giving 3 stars are it was nothing special.
