When the temperature feels like it's below zero in Hobart, you can no longer feel your nose or face, and your partner snubs holding hands in favour of the warmth of her jacket pockets (hahaha) anything that is warm will do. So, a Hudsons Coffee for my fiancée to lift her internal thermostat (it worked a treat) and a short walk from the Hobart Central mall and we found Sakura. As my fiancée is partial to a hardy soup when it's cold, she settled on the BBQ Pork Noodle Soup and I went for the Singapore Noodles coz I cannot recall the last time I ate this dish. Dull old me. Great for sushi - i like traditonal sushi where rice is soft (not freezing cold & compacted), without mayonnaise and rice to filling ratio to be half-half. They offer plenty of variety sushi, spicy salmon being my favourite. Top marks for sushi chef. They also offer dumplings & noodles prepared by a different chef. Despite trying number of times I cannot say they are very good. The noodles are too oily & salty (the kind that repeats on you all day) and dumplings are nothing to speak of. I give ???? only for sushi component at this place.

Some years ago, this restaurant, which is for fast, simple and tasty, fried dishes for lunch for lunch. I've been back since finding MSG not only in the pasta, but also in the chili sauce. Grief Grief Although I was lured back a few times since the sushi, but now, since more sushi outlets have opened nearby, I do not feel that things change considerably.

It's more like a Chinese restaurant than a Japanese. Eating are all delicious and not expensive. The fried rice and cantonese beef brush strudel are good.
