I 've been here over 15 years and I think the food and the atmosphere are great and the place is worth a special trip due to the uniqueness of Bukraran cuisine. I see a lot of people saying that the service isn 't good, but I disagree. The waitresses have always had the right pace for asking us what we want, have always been good at refilling our water, have accepted menu alterations, and brought the food out at a good pace. The waitresses don 't mind taking pictures of families eating together. The waitresses aren 't chatty though. I've reviewed Salute many times over the 21 years I've been going here. I left Forest Hills in 2005 and moved to Bayside and now Garden City but I still drive the 25 minutes for my favorite kebabs (lula), the best hummus I've ever had and their delicious bread. Even my wife, who is from Morocco, gives it a high rating and she's particularly picky about kebabs and hummus. It's my go-to happy comfort meal and I highly recommend you to give it a chance and support it thru the pandemic restrictions. It was 5 stars before Yelp existed in 2000 and it's still 5 stars 21 years later. Tip: call in your order. If you use seamless, call and confirm the restaurant received it.
I am very disappointed! I visited today and ordered the special cut beef skewers, but they tasted spoiled or old. Three of us tried a piece and we all agreed on the terrible taste. We returned the skewers, but the staff didn't even apologize or offer to replace them. To make matters worse, they still charged us for the dish. After some arguing, they agreed to remove two of the four skewers from the bill. I was left feeling very upset by the whole experience, leaving the restaurant hungry and having paid for food that was clearly past its prime.
The food is decent but service is terrible and by terrible I mean non existent. They took our order which was small and we planned on trying a few dishes and ordering more of what we liked more of. They NEVER came back to see if we wanted something else and when they walked by our table there was no eye contact in order to get their attention and even when we tried to get their attention they just ignored us. It was the weirdest experiences I've had. Would not recommend just not worth it.

From what I can tell, this place has changed businesses and us now El Rey Latino, a Spanish restaurant. I am not doing a review for it this restaurant. The Spanish restaurant, which I have eaten that has fairly decent food and can be quite nourishing and tasty. I'm just advising people that the business for this site is closed down and switched owners to a different business completely and is no longer a kosher business.
Ate at this restaurant a few days ago. Waitress is rude, walks away while you're speaking, forgot her manners at home. The food was mediocre. We ask for bread (1st time not extra) and she said it finished. Surprisingly, a Bukharian family came after us and bread appeared. I would not recommend and definitely not eat there again
DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. Tables weren't properly spaced apart, no plastic boarders were up between tables, and worst of all waiters were not wearing masks. Absolutely horrible and will not come back.
I really love this place! The service is excellent, and the staff are wonderful. The owner is a remarkable person with a great personality. It truly is the best!
