I arrived to a very busy bar and restaurant. My first thought was this may be a while, but I was rather surprised to find my table quickly and was able to get my beverage within a few minutes of arriving. Caitlyn was very helpful in suggesting menu items and specials. The choice was made for meatloaf and mashed potatoes along with a starter salad with ranch dressing. The salad came out quickly and was made with fresh lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The meatloaf was served hot with brown gravy, mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. Samsose in Castleton is a wonderful little tavern! I appreciate that it's located in a building with a long local history as a bar and restaurant. It has plenty of old-world charm, but with modern updates. The food is excellent, and I absolutely love the homemade desserts! The waitresses were friendly and accommodating, even with the lively atmosphere. I will definitely be returning!
Fantastic soups and outstanding pork chops! The soups are crafted by a meticulous chef who pours her heart and palate into every batch of homemade goodness. The pork chops are simply perfect, and the service is top-notch. There are also charming little corners for added privacy.

Great place. Friendly atmosphere. Cool place with a big story from the ban. Bar is separated from the food, making it a large family square and a large neighborhood bar! Reminds me of the family places of the late 60's
First time there in quite a while...glad to see it hasn't lost its local flavor....nice food and beverage selection and service...them girls were busier than a frog in a glass of milk
As usual, the Soup was great-no other food but it all looked great as it passed by! Dietary foods and coffee only. Always a good place.
