As someone with experience in customer service, I believe delivering good service should be straightforward. Unfortunately, SAMURAI in Croton Hudson, NY seems to struggle with this. I occasionally stop by for lunch, and the young hostess at the entrance lacks basic social skills. She rarely greets guests with a friendly “Hi, how are you?” or a simple “Thank you for coming.” Instead, she appears more focused on her phone, seemingly oblivious to the world around her. When she finally looks up, her demeanor often comes across as either ditzy or rude, and her behavior gives an impression of racial insensitivity, suggesting she may not know how to engage with people from diverse backgrounds. When she does make eye contact, her behavior can feel awkward, and at times she seems rude or even gives off uncomfortable, racially insensitive vibes, displaying a noticeable discomfort with different cultures. In the end, it's the chefs who redeem this restaurant’s reputation with their outstanding food, as the service, unfortunately, doesn’t deserve more than a 1-star rating from me.

I hadn’t visited Samurai in a few years, and the sushi presentation was outstanding. The staff were very attentive, and the wine selection was better and more diverse than I remembered. We didn’t sit at the hibachi grill this time, but from what we saw, those who did really enjoyed both the show and their meals. It’s also kid-friendly, which is a definite advantage for families.

Excellent experience! The food and friendly service were both fantastic. My fiancé enjoyed the Mango Girl Roll with salmon instead of lobster, while I had the Yellow Tail Roll, and we both shared the seaweed salad. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our server was professional and attentive throughout the meal. We will definitely be returning soon!

I had a wonderful evening! The filet mignon was some of the best I've ever had. We also loved the shrimp and scallops, which were exceptional. This was our first visit, but it certainly won't be our last!
