I was very impressed with this new addition to Cheltenham when I first visited just after its conversion from a gay club and opening some ten years ago and was eager to look this one up again to see how it was doing, and was pleased to find it doing rather well. Largely unchanged internally but has a bit more character nowadays with the addition of a lot more beer and brewery related memorabilia, especially in the snug and the bar billiards room. There is now an upstairs section up the staircase which I don’t remember from before. In two sections the larger hand side has a large rectangular table and the other has additional seating. It’s worth popping up here to take a look at the really im...

Perhaps unfairly we asked the barman in the brew house Cheltenham city centre if he could recommend a quieter more traditional pub close to our premier Inn base ...he suggested the sandford arms ..how right he was From the outside nothing spectacular but inside a good old fashioned British pub run by caring staff who are supported by a proper chef preparing way above average food cooked properly not dinged in a microwave We changed our plans for the following night Saturday and although noisier with the locals the food was again way above what we unfortunately have come to expect from pubs so hats off chef your chop on Friday night and steak Saturday night were spot on Our other three meals...
i wish i lived closer this is a great pub, the is a good selection of beer which are a little overpriced but not too bad, the staff have not had their personalities surgically removed either which makes such a difference. For some reason on the date of my visit the place was full of Americans having a party which was great and added a bit of randomness to proceedings. It is testament to the great pubs in Cheltenham that i don't go in here more often.
Booked a table for Friday night purely because it was near our accommodation and ordered fish and chips because, why not, it was Friday! I can honestly say this was probably the best fish and chips I've ever had (I'm in my 50s). We loved it so much and wanted to try some more real ales, that we booked for Sunday lunch. We were equally impressed. It's a small menu, but everything was done well. Highly recommended. Book a table now
Went with mates on a Tuesday night in January so had main meal bogof, and doggie free pint night. Nice special (ribs and chilli chips) and a couple of craft beers, came to £20 each with decent tip. Service really good friendly bar staff and right level of attentive. Got a great tip for a Burns Night cocktail (Irn Bru is involved). It’s our local so I’m biased, but honestly it was a fab night out.
I'm not now a local, and well used to Belgian beers. But these guys know their beers, keep them well and stock a large variety of UK and euro beers. I didn't visit this time on Sunday, but previously had great roast lunch there.
Food okay, perfectly adequate but not fine dining. Jesse our lovely waitress was great though : couldn't be more helpful, cheerful, hard working and above all really friendly and smiley !
We had roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. It was one of the best roasts that I have eaten out. Can’t fault anything, including service. We’ll be back. Book a table now
Very friendly staff, great atmosphere and very good choice of beers and food. A must place to visit in Cheltenham. Definitely will be going again and again...
