Step back in time, unfortunately not to the 1600s but to the 1980s. The character of the main part of this historic building cannot be underestimated however, the ‘modern’ annex does not match. There is a need for a significant referb, the room was comfortable but dated beyond belief. Whilst I wasn’t expecting Wildebeest on the Serengeti, I wasn’t impressed with wheelie bins and broken chairs view.
We went to the Saracens Head for a Sunday lunch. We were well looked after by Andrew. The food was excellent and the yorkshire puddings were amazing!! The portions were a good size and we weren't hungry at the end! The restaurant is amazing and the atmosphere is relaxing. Would recommend for a special meal.
Charming surroundings, excellent and helpful staff with good varied menu choices Perhaps it was just a bad day but the roast meats were not if the quality expected for the price. In particular the turkey. Slices from turkey roll instead of slices from fresh turkey.
The burgers (one meat, one veggie) were very good. So good to find actual bar food for a change rather than just an expensive restaurant meal. It was really pleasant to sit outside in the sunshine.
