Caught up with friends here on a cold and wet Sunday morning. As soon as you enter, your greeted with a smile and great service. Atmosphere was quiet, warm and welcoming. We had the scones. Soft and fluffy. Jam was delicious. Coffee was good too. Great place, hard to find parking as the area is very popular and the crowds were out and about, as usual so I was told, even though the weather was pretty ordinary. I'd imagine the area would be very crowded if the weather was more appealing. So I would say to allow for waiting time to be seated. But I'd recommend this place. If we go back there, I'd be more than happy to eat here again.
Oh yes, the sparkle was absolutely the very best coffee. It was so delicious not to mention my salmon salad pitta sandwich. My partner enjoyed his burger also. I could have gone for seconds but decided not to given the meals are certainly an adequate size, but oh the coffee!! It was so good. And the staff were so welcoming and friendly and even though they were extremely busy, they still noticed and welcomed people as they came through the door. Service was prompt. I know where I will be going next time I go to the Dandenongs.
Great fare especially Devonshire tea. Scones are very fresh & lovely served with runny tasty jam & cream. Hot beverages are good too & one in our group had quiche with salad - verdict was good too. Fast & friendly service. Simple, smaller cafe with not many tables inside & limited outside metal table setting. Good place to enjoy autumn sunshine (if you can warm the chair first!).
Today my wife and I decided to take a trip to the Dandenongs and upon viewing places we decided on sassafras cafe the service was excellent and friendly. We had lunch and Devonshire tea. We had the sassy burger and the soup special both were delicious. We then had coffee and scones which were perfect. Over all it was a great experience and we will definitely be back. Book a table now
After a 7km hike in the rain we can here for some lunch. The staff were all great. We said we were going to share the soup and a pie and they were so nice and divided up the soup for us and served in seperate bowls.The Pie was only okay but the Soup was amazing.Make sure you leave room for the yummy scones and tea for desert! They were so warm and amazing.
We stopped at Sassafras Cafe on our way back to Melbourne and found this absolute treasure. The staff knowing we were on a tour bus made sure we got our order quickly. The scones were freshly out of the oven and were the best I have had in a very long time. I would highly recommend a stop here.
We tried out this cafe and selected it after Miss Marples Tea room was busy and the reviews on the devonshire tea were not what we found. The scones were a great shape and size but were very plain and tasteless. Not a place we would recommend.

After a long day walking around the Dandy hills my bf took me to a cafe to finish off the day, the service was good as well as the coffee and I just loved the scones and cream with jam that we had.
