We don't get to NF very often, but when we do, a trip to Scamper's for their half chicken and chips is a must. The fried chicken is delicious with the breading very crispy and very juicy inside. Yes, it is a little greasy, but I think that is the charm of indulging in some good old fashioned fried chicken. The dressing and gravy for the fries is very good as well. Service is very fast, including how fast they bring out your order. This is a very busy little restaurant and the food is the reason why.Everything about this restaurant seems to be the way it has been for years and years and years. Great nostalgia! However, that is not always a good thing. It is wonderful to keep the nostalgia of...

Saturday afternoon, 2 of us out shopping, decided to grab a quick bite here.Older restaurant, friendly staff, fast service.Ordered fish and chips with gravy and dressing on the side, 2 soft drinks.Chips were excellent, fish was good but there was enough batter to choke a horse. To make things worse it was very greasy, and the oil that dripped on to my plate looked old.Lastly, the dressing was ice cold, like just from the cooler cold, we couldn't eat it. When we pointed this out to the server their response was "Sorry" but did not deduct it from our bill.$30+ later (with tax and tip) we feel let down. Scampers is an old St John's staple, but there are much better places (Chess's, The Duke) fo...
The restaurant has both booth and counter seating options, and the service is decent, although it can be a bit slow at times. It tends to be busier during the lunch hour, while the supper hour is more relaxed. I haven't tried their breakfast yet, but I'm considering giving it a go on a weekend morning. Overall, Scampers is a good choice for a budget-friendly meal, as long as you don't mind fried dishes. Keep your expectations reasonable and you'll leave satisfied without breaking the bank.
Affordable and tasty. Scampers is a great spot for a quick meal. I've had the hot turkey sandwich twice and it was delicious. The prices are low and the portions are generous. My partner enjoys their two-piece fish and chips. My parents also enjoyed their meals there. The scallops are tasty, but be warned they are battered. I've only gotten take-out, as I wouldn't want to dine in. The take-out service is good and I especially love their gravy. Book a table now
My wife and I made the mistake of not ordering fish and chips. Instead we ordered the turkey with dressing. Meal was cheap but not at all tasty. Fries were soaked with gravy, but the fries are maybe the thing they do best. Turkey was fair, and the dressing was terrible. Coffee included in the deal had been on a burner for a long time. This place is a greasy spoon with cheap prices.
When i go there i usually cannot make up my mind because i want everything. Homemade fries and gravy are delicious. Very dated but it is a part of the charm. Hasn't changed since I was a kids going there with my parents. Good quality at a good price. Service is always great. A lot of the same faces that have been there for years.
Service is usually good and fast for the crowds that eat there.Your usual family restaurant with no frills and great if you like large portions ! Delicious home cut fries and fish usually fresh and good although the last time we ate there the fish was dry and tasted like it was frozen ,Love the place for a quick meal ..
I ordered a burger platter and side of onion rings to go. The burger patter was really dry and the fries were severely undercooked looked almost white . My "order" of onion rings was 4 rings that were still half raw onion in batter . It was an overall bad meal Book a table now
Es un restaurante barato, sencillo, en el cual se puede pasar a desayunar si es que tienes prisa por llegar a algún lugar. La gente que atiende es amable y los platillos son de lo más normal.
