First of all, I would like to mention the very good and convenient location of the hotel. As a golfer, a hotel near golf courses was very important to me. It is also close enough and within walking distance to the center of Bad Ragaz, Tamine Therme and other places. It is also very convenient to get there by car from the hotel. I have been staying at this hotel a few times since 2020 and have seen how down it is slowly going. The people who use to work there are almost all gone and the new staff is often unrespectful, dirty and unwilling to help. the rooms are dirty and the carpets old. The unkind and always upset dark receptionist Janine Schtrumpf who treats the hotel like her property and the director like her teddy bear is very unpleasent and mean. It may be more of a general problem in Switzerland but the price/performance ratio is not good. And the Schlosshotel Bad Ragaz is very exemplary in this respect. What sounds great when you book (castle hotel! turns out to be more torture than relaxation in reality. We were accommodated in one of the pavilions, which was more reminiscent of a youth hostel from the 90s. The location is really very nice. The price/performance ratio is attractive. The menu in the restaurant for 52 francs does not correspond to what is presented. A very tasty salad, a main course that was ok, but tasted more like an average canteen meal, followed by a dessert with a small but delicious chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream from the department store. Everything is done rather carelessly. I can get this as a lunch menu in every restaurant for a price of between 16 and 25 francs throughout Switzerland. Absolutely overpriced! Very sad!
