We were assigned to Hotel Alfa, which is in a separate building. Breakfast and reception, however, were in Schmid. This was not very convenient as we had to wind our way through their outdoor patio furniture and all the plants obscuring the entrance to the...stairs leading to Alfa. Both hotels are conveniently close to the boat dock. Our room was a bit small, but the small balcony offered beautiful views of Lake Lucerne. The bath had a clear window near the ceiling in the shower. Since the glass was not frosted and we could see up to the balconies of other buildings behind us, we felt uncomfortable showering after dark with the lights on. Brunnen is a small town at lakeside, a perfect place to stop for lunch when you cruise Lake Lucerne on boat for more than an hour from Lucerne. The restaurant is lakefront, just across the street from the Waldstattersee stop. The restaurant’s is very clean...and charming. Outside sitting is a great place to have a cup of coffee, and watch boats coming and going with a vintage point of Lake Lucerne turning degree amount mountains. My husband had pork, and I had fish, which were all came with salad. They were all good, but fish had bones, it was fine with me, might not be good for people who cannot handle fish bones. Great location as it was under the hotel we stayed. Staff couldn’t speak much English but really tried. Service was wonderful, food reasonably priced and great view of the lake lovely and relaxing. Some of the other bars had loud music this was quiet.
We ate here while staying at the hotel and the food was exceptional! The Schnitzel was very crispy outside and super tender inside. The sole was amazing as well. The staff is amazing and you can not beat the view of beautiful Lake Lucerne!
