This hotel is charming, and the food is spectacular! We asked the waitress (who didn't speak much English, but we used "sign" language to figure everything out--LOL!) what she recommended, and she pointed to some sort of "shared" meal (can't remember exactly what it's called on the menu). Every single thing that we ate was incredible. We started off the meal with the mushroom soup, and I highly encourage you to try this. It's the best I've ever had, and I thought I had had good mushroom soup before this. before we moved to meppen, the hotel was overlooked more often. found everything that we had introduced through the Internet presentation. room tasteful and very clean. the breakfast rich, very good! next to the rolls there were various delicious bread varieties. the personal is always friendly and attentive. the restaurant is cozy, with a menu that invites you to eat. it tastes excellent. the hotel is guided in the family tradition and they feel the love to call. the location is ideal, in the city, yet quiet and ideal for hiking, cycling and sightseeing in the environment. public parking is available free of charge.
Had the Asparagus special. Served with pork schnitzel, boiled potatoes, scramble eggs, almond butter, and hollandaise sauce. The meal started with a asparagus cream soup. A nice start that was very well matched to the baguette. The meal was eccentric. The traditional white asparagus and hollandaise sauce was done well. Large fat asparagus cooked perfectly and the scratch made hollandaise sauce was so good. Took the hollandaise sauce to the potatoes and it was just that much better.

We came across this place for Lunch as it was pretty much the only restaurant open in Meppen at that time. However we're glad we ended up there. Food was basic but delicious. Service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was truly German. We both had schnitzel and it was so filling we could barely finish it... but we did!
Familiäre Atmosphäre, gutes Essen. Man wird einfach freundlich aufgenommen und kann sich wohl fühlen. Die Zimmer sind sauber und gut ausgestattet. Immer wieder gerne. Schöne Grüße an das Team und nen ganz dicken Kuss Danke das ihr da seid.
I had dinner with my colleague. I ordered Schnitzel with onions. It was huge portion. But I have to say it was good meal. Service is nice and so is the restaurant and service. I can recomend this restaurat easily.
Old hotel and restaurant very pretty and authentic. The food was really, really good and fresh, and again very authentically German. Good service and friendly(for Germany) enough. A hidden gem...
