I studied in China and lived there for a long time (shan dong and beijing). what I miss most in Germany (with) is eating. outside of düsseldorf it is really hard to get impossible to get authentic Chinese food. the greater my surprise was when I found the shan dong in kassel (where it regularly strikes me) a simple, small and cheap restaurant with wonderful North Chinese cuisine.I admit, I usually order the same: huiguo rou (baks). it is sharp, fat, oily, salty, fantastic! just as it should be. the jingjiang rousi (京酱肉丝): heavenly! jiaozi (饺ن) with different fillings are also super.I hope there are enough guests here who appreciate this jewel so that it will be preserved for a long time...

After having been spoiled for choice when living in London and Edinburgh, I've been waiting for over 30 years for a good, authentic Chinese eatery to arrive in Kassel. Now, finally, we have two! The other, Hungry Panda, is a great-value snack bar but with excellent and authentic food. Shan Dong, on the other hand, is an attractive and pleasant restaurant but can also boast authentic and tasty dishes. Each time I've been here the place was packed -- a good advertisement in itself but careful timing or a reservation would be a good idea. Highly recommended!
in contrast to the standard China restaurants, there is no furnishing skip here.Love that the facility is still from the previous owner;-) .the foods are delicious and fresh, the service nice and very endeavors, unfortunately at amateur level. but this is absorbed by the taste and ease of use.Pig meat sour and buddah’s tofu dishes were excellent. I can't remember eating so crisp vegetables at the Chinese.
Very recommended! We are there 1-2 times a month and try the menu above and below. Everything tastes very delicious and freshly prepared. No comparison with Glutamat-all you can eat buffets of the so-called China restaurants. In the evening a reservation is absolutely necessary, which is undoubtedly a very good sign.
nice little restaurant with ambitious good Chinese cuisine. nice young owners. reasonable prices. only at the ambiente you could still get a bit, but please don't develop into the red china plush ;) try the teig bags!
