The Shard Riverside was good on our first visit a year ago to the point that today we drove from Bronte Country in Yorkshire (for lunch). The restaurant is beautifully decorated and an oasis of calm, with great views of the River Wyre. The menu offers a great range of dishes we ordered Thai haddock goujons and a Prawn Cocktail to start. The chef (Dale Saxon) balanced the two very different tastes and textures perfectly it would have been easy to over power the fish. The service at this restaurant was absolutely terrible. We waited an hour for our main courses after our starters were cleared, and when they finally arrived, they were not great. We were initially told it would only be a minute longer, but the meal never showed up. When we complained, the staff seemed to avoid us, even though it wasn't busy at the time. One waitress was icy and defensive when my father pointed out his meal still hadn't arrived. In the end, we decided to leave and settle the bill at the bar because no one came to discuss our experience at the table. It was a disappointing and frustrating dining experience.
We stayed at Shard Riverside last weekend for a wedding nearby and I want to thank the staff, especially the manager Michael, for going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Michael showed exceptional kindness and sensitivity when we had a problem with my daughter. He even brought breakfast to our room when we couldn't make it to the restaurant. We felt incredibly welcome and well taken care of. The level of care, friendliness, and service we received deserves recognition, and I highly recommend this place. Thank you so much!
How disappointing, felt very patronised as soon as we were greeted by the Maitre De very offhand then very condescending through out. Left us waiting for ages after after our main course because he was talking to someone and despite trying to attract his attention he just ignored us. There were only three tables occupied so he had no excuse for the disgusting service. TIME HE FOUND ANOTHER VENUE.. He is obviously bored and couldn't care less

I took my boyfriend out for his birthday at this restaurant. It had been a few years since my last visit, but I was pleased to see that the restaurant had not changed. We both enjoyed our meal, the presentation was excellent, and the staff was very courteous and friendly. Sandy, our server, was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the near future.
had a beautiful celebrity 90th birthday lunch in the shard for our mother. beautiful window table with view of the mouth. attentive staff and tasty eating. the muddles were amazing. mama has enjoyed himself very much and we will return definatiw. thank you for making them special during the day.
I recently dined at Shard Riverside Inn and enjoyed a beautiful view of the River Wyre from the outdoor seating area. The tuna steak with warm Niçoise salad that I ordered was delicious, as was the huh kiew I tried the week before. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.
I stayed Saturday evening. Had a wonderful dinner and fab breakfast next day. All the staff so welcoming and professional. Lovely room and view of the river Wyre. A fab stay for 8 of us. Many thanks. Can’t wait to visit again.

Great meal, attentive and hard working staff, nothing was too much trouble, don’t sit by the window without the sun blind, just to hot when the sun is out.
I loved our meal here very very nice food good prices and most of all the staff were all very very nice and polite and helpful will defo be returning
