My wife I called here for lunch. We both agreed that the hospitality and food were disapointing. The staff were three young girls who looked bored and disinterested in their work. A further young lady leaning against the bar, and accompanied by two young children appeared to be either friend or off-duty staff who was engrosed in conversation with the 'working staff '. The topic of discussion seemed to relate to the the previous evenings excitment in the pub. In fairness, the girls performed the basic minimal duties nessecary to take orders and serve, but it was the inattentive distracted nature of their behavour that was the overwhelming impression. The food arrived, and it looked fair, but...

We stayed at this establishment for a few days and are considering extending our stay. It is a dog-friendly place, even offering ice cream for dogs. The atmosphere is very welcoming in this pub/hotel, with friendly managers, staff, and customers. The breakfasts are delicious and the staff go out of their way to accommodate any requests. The beds are comfortable, there is free wifi, and the rooms are lovely. There is great entertainment a few times a week in the pub, and the food in the restaurant is also delicious. We plan on trying more items from the menu during our stay. We will definitely be returning in the future.

After strolling from Saltburn along the beach, we decided to stop by The Ship. It was our first time visiting, so we weren't sure what to expect. It was a pleasant surprise to see the entrance still utilizing revolving doors! The bar area was very spacious, offering a variety of seating options. We enjoyed both lunch and drinks, and found the menu options to be plentiful. The sandwiches we ordered were well presented and a good value. Although the drinks were served in different types of glasses, they were still enjoyable. We would definitely recommend The Ship and plan to return in the future.

We booked a room for the evening due to a difficult parking problem at another venue. We were pleasantly surprised at the charm and cheerful setting. The new owner was gracious and staff were friendly and attentive. They are undergoing changes to upgrade their services and menus and overnight guest rooms. I would not be at all surprised that they make a huge re-entry into the limelight with their fabulous attention to detail and historic charm and beautiful seaside location!
